Better than a Yugo or a Trabant...
The first one thought you were an easy mark. You weren't. That's winning.I have returned from war. The first one I'm not sure what went wrong, but when the guy gave a price a straight up told him I'm not paying that for a car about to 100,000 miles plus is one I'm going to have to take straight to the shop if I buy it (it needed an alignment, new wheel bearings, and the alternator and serpentine belt were really squeaky and noisy). He would only go down a couple a hundred, but he was shaking and trembling so hard I'm surprised we didn't have an earthquake. So, they got no sale.
The next guy did work with me, taking almost 3 grand off the car. So, now I own a foresty/piney green 2012 Scion Xd. Though I MUST flip the logo around so I drive a "dX" instead.
I took his trembling as a sign he knew I wouldn't be easy (perhaps maybe even his first customer who has ever actually listened to the engine and searching for things). My "Machy senses" where also going off like a carpet bombing, because I knew there was something going on with such a reluctance to go down in price when I clearly had such a strong claim to "**** on your full price."The first one thought you were an easy mark. You weren't. That's winning.
Looks great for taking the kids to soccer games! Not "my" car, but a picture of my car (it's rainy today so no pictures):
