Cat predation on wildlife - Wikipedia
Impact of feral cats in Australia

Or talk to a cat owner about the number of birds, reptiles and mammals their cat has brought home.

Yes i know they are predators, they have been predators since they evolved, since before humans evolved.

The wiki says helped cause extinction. The petsmart says considered. I can live with that, cats are in essence, wild animals with wild animal instincts. And think, had humans not taken cats to Australia...

So lets talk of birds, how many insects do they kill? Most evenings i watch a flock of Swift's swooping up literally 100s of insects.

How many insect species have been caused to go extinct by birds?

But hey, we aren't bothered about insects are we?

And I'm not going into how many humans have been killed by humans and we are supposed to be civilized.

Personally I prefer bearclaws.

I am hiding this under a spoiler since it may trigger a certain bear:

That looks so much like one of my favourite breakfast pastries.

A butter croissant injected with an almond paste and sprinkled with almonds, but without the claws

Same as most if not all sciencey type stuff, it's evidence not proof. And I agree it's basically a people problem. There were no predators similar to cats in Australia so the fauna hasn't evolved a defence against them.

Bit of a strawman and I have no idea, couldn't even speculate. However wild birds can't be controlled easily and insects have evolved defences on the other hand people could easily control their cats and people could stop dumping unwanted cats. I have a dog that chases birds and lizards so I keep it locked up.

And I'm not going into how many humans have been killed by humans and we are supposed to be civilized.

I agree, humans are the number 1 cause of extinction by a country mile however talk of controlling humans is frowned upon.
