When is comes to country music i am proud to be a bigot.
Maybe its something to do with the British version of country music.
Oh yes, you Brits refer to a parking lot as a car park. Living on an island does funny things to one's language. The park is where treat extraction happens and if one nose does not do the trick, there are many noses available.
There was a great PBS series on country music that changed my mind about it.

I am the same. I was accusing Spotify of trying to beat my neck that time when it was suggesting country music, various sub genres to hickify me, and then screaming it's trying to beat my neck so hard and turn it red it's gonna knock my head off when the **** with the Confederate rag was showing up.
Metallica and Megadeth, the Doors and Zeppelin, Dre and Eminem, Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, Lords of Acid and even Gregorian chanting are heard through my speakers but no country. And I'm glad of the days and weeks my playlists stretch out there is 0% country contributing to it. Tiny Dancer with the steel guitar is as close as it gets.

I dont think her Frenched up Britishness needs to be American to get it. It's sort of like rap in that lots of people outside the core demograph who listen to it, but among the core demographs even Dolly Parton ****s up big with presenting the South and Civil War and would be as equally wrong to show WWII as Hitler and Stalin being close buddies who just had an unfortunate falling out awhile ommitting the reality of the two ideologically being deadly enemies and completely leaving out the plight of the Jews.
And that's Dolly Parton, a queen of country who otherwise seems to be a squeaky clean person who's done some good with her celebrity status.
