"THE LORD'S DAY IS THE SABBATH DAY NOT SUNDAY ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURES

God says it does. Its one of Gods' 4th commandments (Exodus 20:8-11).
Did God say that? Moses was almost certainly fictional. The Ten Commandments have some half decent "laws" to them but they look like the work of a primitive people. Please note how it refers to the six day creation myth. Since the Earth was not made in six days how does that apply?

Please, you are not fooling anyone.
Do you want to discuss the OP or are you just going to fantasize about the arguments that you lost? One reason that you use the word "deflection" so much is because that is one of your main debating tools. When you lose you never want to discuss the topic of the thread. You would rather deflect.
Well that is something you would need to prove as you have not done so in anything you have said throughout this thread despite all the evidence provided to you by many people in this thread that have also provided evidence that you do not respond to post contents, deflect with personal false claims and accusations you are unable to prove and then run away when challenged to prove what you say. You do make many smile here though even if you cannot prove what you say. :)

Well that is something you would need to prove. You cannot can you. So perhaps your words are fictional. Go start up a thread and send me a link. Do you have anything to contribute to the OP here? I am guessing not.

Oh please. I do not believe you. You have only attacked me here.
I have attacked you? SZ, what on earth is wrong with you? Pointing out your many errors is not attacking you. Stop acting the role of ‘Poor old me, I’m being attacked’. You are not being attacked, SZ. We are disagreeing with you and trying to help you see where you are going wrong. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. What would happen if you ever took part in a real debate? You would fall to pieces, that’s what.
And you do not seem to understand. It does not matter whether he believes in those myths or not. Unless, and this is an out I gave him a long time ago, one admits that one is just playing silly fanfiction games.
But why would he admit to something he is not doing, just to please you? Fiction refers to books and stories about imaginary people and events, rather than books about real people or events.[/QUOTE]
As I said before, in the post to which you will not respond, you must try to understand that he believes that the Bible is about real people or events. According to you he has no sound basis for what he believes. According to him he does have a sound basis.
But this is a different discussion from this ‘fanfiction’ thing. Do you understand?
As to knowing whether his exegesis fails, yes it does. He is trying to apply myths to the real world and that results in failure.
If he was doing this he would be using eisegesis, not exegesis. Maybe you should not be using terms you don’t understand.
And yes, of course I can prove that they did not happen.
Prove? There’s another word you are using incorrectly.
And I will own up to my own mistake. I had an incorrect concept of eisegesis. But exegesis on its own is a failure. It makes an unjustified assumption. That means that one cannot get a proper understanding of the Bible if one uses it. Exegesis assumes that the Bible is literally true, and many parts of it simply did not happen or are wrong. You should know that Genesis is a book of myths. It still works as a collection of morality tales, but it fails as history and exegesis that treats it as history is doomed to fail too.
Exegesis does not assume that the Bible is literally true. Where are you getting this nonsense from, SZ? Exegesis is simply an explanation or critical interpretation of a text. That interpretation could be allegorical, historical narrative, literal, prophecy, metaphorical etc. Do you understand?

You should know that there can be truth in myth.
“The value of the myth is that it takes all the things we know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by ‘the veil of familiarity.’ The child enjoys his cold meat, otherwise dull to him, by pretending it is buffalo, just killed with his own bow and arrow. And the child is wise. The real meat comes back to him more savory for having been dipped in a story…by putting bread, gold, horse, apple, or the very roads into a myth, we do not retreat from reality: we rediscover it.”

C.S. Lewis

I doubt that you will understand the above quote from Lewis, but others may.

Sorry, but you have repeatedly demonstrated that you do not understand what qualifies as evidence and how to use it.

Meanwhile it looks like you are running away again.

Of course I can. What makes you think that I can't? Are you done running? Would you like a discussion?

Sorry dear friend. You have been caught our by more than one person here. I am not interested in playing your games of false claim and accusations and then asking you to prove your claims only to see you run away from the discussion again. Lets talk more when you have something to contribute to the OP. So far you haven't been able to do that here as many have already shown you. So you and me my dear friend will agree to disagree. Lets talk more when you can prove what you say.

I know right sis? He deflect to others what he is doing with false claims and accusations without addressing post content. I am thinking now he is Soapy's acolyte now or a Donald Trump apprentice (deny, accuse, rinse and repeat), It has been entertaining even if not much of the OP is being discussed. :)

Thank you for proving my point. You do not disagree. Right here instead of disagreeing and supporting your case you said "what on earth is wrong with you". Sorry but that is a person attack. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing. I have not tried to insult your intelligence for your repeated failures. But that is what you do here. And then you end this with another false claim that is a person attack. I am not the one that would fall apart in a debate. In an actual debate moderators would be all over such a short statement like you just made.

But why would he admit to something he is not doing, just to please you? Fiction refers to books and stories about imaginary people and events, rather than books about real people or events.[

Now it appears that you are not listening. I did not call the Bible fiction, though quite a bit of it is. The accusation was that he was treating it as fanfiction. Do you ne not understand the difference? In fanfction a piece is dealt with as if it were real. And it is a mistake to deal with the Bible as if it were 100% accurate. That is what he is doing. That sort of approach will harm one's ability to understand it fully.

If he was doing this he would be using eisegesis, not exegesis. Maybe you should not be using terms you don’t understand.

Too bad that you do not pay attention. I did own up to my error in those terms. And you might have a fair point here. He may be using eisegesis rather than exegesis. Unrestrained exegesis does tend to go that way. One also has to remember that the Bible is loaded with self contradictions making it far too easy to accuse one's opponent of using eisegesis.

Prove? There’s another word you are using incorrectly.

Really? And is this just another of your unsupported personal attacks or would you care to support this accusation?

Exegesis does not assume that the Bible is literally true. Where are you getting this nonsense from, SZ? Exegesis is simply an explanation or critical interpretation of a text. That interpretation could be allegorical, historical narrative, literal, prophecy, metaphorical etc. Do you understand?

That appears to vary on the person that is using that term For 3rd it does appear to be his contention that the Bible is literally true and that is reflected in his attempts at exegesis. You may have a different meaning when you use the word , but he does not seem to agree with you in all of your beliefs.

There you go using the word "deflection" improperly again.

From your posts it appears that you constantly try to use terms that you do not fully understand as buzz terms.

But instead of deflecting and running away would you care to understand why your arguments fail?

Nope you deflect onto others what you do like a mirror and run away from the discussion with false personal claims and accusations your unable to prove when challenged. :)

More false accusations and just running away. I guess if you cannot defend your beliefs that might seem like a smart strategy.

No. I am willing to discuss the OP. You are not. Everyone can see that I keep trying to get back on track but that you keep deflecting.

As I said, it is based upon an incorrect exegesis. There was no "seventh day". Do you know roughly how the Earth was formed? Do you know when?
Did you read the OP? *Exodus 20:10 "But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God". You do know there are seven days in the week right?
