The man who introduced mindless consumerism.

I think there is an element of instant gratification that demands we buy things we don't need, run into debt because we can't wait to save up to buy. Same with junk food that does our bodies more harm than good. Many have learned to become more sophisticated cooks with healthy food source, my daughter uses 90% plant-based foods along with sea foods, occasionally enjoys a good steak. And with today's inflation saves money.

But I NEED my Birkin!

I refuse to accept commercial advertising, anymore. I just can't stomach it. And the more I avoid it, the more grotesque I realize it is when I do encounter it.

I can't even imagine the horrible effect it has had on global culture in the last 100 years. Lies on top of lies on top of lies, and the total glorification of selfishness and stupidity. And the greed! I would go insane if I were ever forced to endure that crap again day after day. Seriously! And what makes it all the more horrific is that most of humanity has become completely blind to it, as if it were just part of the weather. We think it's completely normal and reasonable when it's absolutely insane, dishonest, and deeply harmful to all of us, and especially to the young ones among us growing up in it.

If humanity does finally destroy itself, as it may well do, commercial advertising will be a huge factor in our having done so. maybe the single most pervading factor next to the greed that generated it all.
