The massive, catastrophic, probaby fatal horror of mail-in voting

The Donald is at it again, another dumb press conference at the White House.

But here's a question, please answer as best you can: Donald Trump is endlessly boosting the claim that mail-in voting (which he does) is certain to be massively fraudulent. Am i wrong in supposing that most US tax returns are also done by mail-in? Are they massively fraudulent?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Meh...that's one angle for sure.
Has the US fully addressed the substantial issues with their electronic polling booths? Because they are scarily easy to manipulate in many cases, due to online connectivity and ability to do remote software updates and bug fixes.
It's been well documented and covered in the media at times, but there appears little official comment on this...only on mail-ins. Happy to be corrected on that, or linked to evidence the many loopholes have been closed, but as far as I am aware that's where it stands.

If you want to see real mail fraud, look at all the bills I get in the mail. And what about all those ads I get for products that will dissapoint me if I buy them. Fraud upon fraud.

We've had mail-in votes for decades here in Austria, and the only screw ups we've ever had happened with physical voting booths.

Mail in ballots have been working just fine here in Oregon for more than 20 years. The only people who oppose it are those who want to restrict the number of people who vote.

A BBC article indicates that Republicans in Utah are rolling their eyes because mail-in voting is a norm there.

Hi,
To specifically address your question, actually about 90% of tax returns handled by the IRS these days are filed online, electronically.

The problem with changing to mail-in ballots (which I favor) en masse is that there needs to be provisions to open and start tallying the votes prior to election day itself, which in most states is not now lawful. OR American voters can "agree" to patiently wait the extra few days it will take to declare a winner. (Yeah, go ahead mark that statement "Optimistic." Can't even get 'em to agree to wear masks....)

Early processing of votes makes good sense to me.

As far as tax returns go, I suppose there would be a certain percentage who might cheat on their taxes. That's certainly a thing in America.

I don't think there would be that much "massive fraud," but I suppose there could be some potential for fraud. I remember a case many years ago where they caught some people trying to sell their mail-in ballots. I suppose if someone didn't care and wanted to earn some cash, it might be something, but how much could it possibly be worth? If someone wanted to fix an election, they'd have to purchase thousands or possibly millions of ballots - and with that many people, somebody would likely blab about it.

I suppose another worry might be the possibility of "losing" ballots in certain areas. One reason why I prefer to vote in person is that I put my ballot directly into the box. If I mail something, how do I know if it was received by the correct party? If the recipient doesn't get it, they might simply assume that I never mailed it. Is it possible that someone may target key precincts or certain zip codes and find a way to misroute (or even destroy) the ballots?

I guess the future of this country hinges on the post office.

Voting fraudulently is a felony. According to historical records, fraudulent voting is a tiny % of overall votes. Irrelevant. 0.000001%
Fraudulent voting is committed by republicans and democrats historically.
