The Matrix, the influences and inspirations

While it can almost be assumed from the link that The Matrix has copied other works. I think this video is great, as it captures some of the inspirations, influences, or just material that was used to fashion The Matrix and bring it to a large audience. of course some of the themes behind the matrix have been running for years, have been written about, and even filmed. such as Gnostic diffusion of ideas and fusion with Buddhist philosophies or eastern philosophies in general. there is absolutely nothing bizarre about capturing it into an action movie.
this cool video shows the influences of eastern martial arts choreography, Ghost in a Shell, Akira, and Philip K. Dick's modern interpretation of Gnosticism among others.

The Matrix is how the Bible is presented to people.

One controller. People looking for Messiah/Savior. One Martyr for the many. Only the "educated" can know anything.

Yep The Matrix is like the teachings people give from the Bible.

No, The Matrix is clearly an allegory of Maya -- the Hindu concept of illusion. ;)

They make direct references to a philosopher named Baudrillard who wrote a book named "Simulacra and Simulation". But many consider the matrix's interpretation of baudrillard to be a failure and see it more in line with Plato's Allegory of the cave
