Notta problem, but let me just leave this thought with ya: the Preamble to the Constitution says "... and provide for the general welfare...", which states that the government itself has a role in helping us through hardship. If we turn our backs on the poor, which is what you are actually suggesting we do, then the government is violating not only the wording but the mandate of the Constitution itself.Agree to disagree.
And morally, why would we do that anyway? In my faith, we have an obligation to assist the poor and needy, and we always recognized that government had to have a large role in that as it is mandated in Torah. To leave the poor to suffer is considered a major violation of Jewish Law.
Gotta go, and have a good weekend.
