The House Republicans just voted to gut the Congressional Ethics Office. Nice of them to cripple the watchdog.

Most of them don't own businesses.
And it's never so simple.
- Higher pay for low income workers also means higher prices.
- It could also mean more unemployment due to increased pressure to automate.
Yes, but a good chunk of business owners are middle class, and when minimum wage goes up costs do not go up much but more people end up with some more money to spend, which is good for business.

I wasn't aware Trump recovered his three-million vote deficit.
I suspect that the majority of votes that President-elect Trump did not get and the Hillary did was not your "middle class" voter. I will try one more time to give you liberal/progressives one more chance to look at the results. If you can not see, with your own eyes, that where Hillary got the majority of her votes was not "middle class world", I guess I'll just give up, sometimes you can only beat your head against a brick-wall for so long. Here is a very pretty multi-shaded representation of the election results for your viewing pleasure. It's in 3D also.

It's an unverifiable assertion.
Even economists can't make reliable predictions about such things.

I wish that wasn't such a scary thing.

And when I ran across this story today, it didn't surprise me one iota.

I'm sure then that you will be pleased with our President-elect on his reaction to this

See, he isn't the bogeyman you thought he was.:)

Hold on to your seats boys and girls. The House has dropped the Ethics Office issue.
Fox News

Couple of other interesting stories in the link.....but seeing the anti-FNC attitude of most of the members on this forum I doubt you will even take the time to peruse them.

So clearly wages should be cut (except for the bosses, of course) down to starvation levels because then prices could be lowered and employment increased. That's the logic of your argument.

Now if you wanted to argue that the minimum wage be kept low but income subsided by government out of taxes on the upper crust, I'd be tempted to consider it.

But factually your argument is simplistic and often inaccurate. - It's not that simple at all. Minimum wage: Updated research roundup on the effects of increasing pay - Journalist's Resource is a good source of information.

Since most House Republicans first voted for the measure, then I guess that pretty much tells us the degree of honesty that they have. Even Ryan caved.

It's sorta funny how self-proclaimed Republicans are so willing to throw their own party under the bus by using bait & switch with Trump, but then they resort to their same lemming pattern with their party after that as if we didn't notice. And then if that doesn't work, it's all Hillary's fault.

Hey Republicans: you selected Trump, you now own him, and you are therefore responsible for not only what the soon to be Groper-In-Chief does, you're also responsible for what your party does. Maybe it's time for you to grow up and take responsibility for a change and not blame others for what you selected.

Maybe it's time for Democrats to admit they lost the election, and that they have lost over 1000 legislative seats an governors since your dear leader took office(not a reference to Kim Jong-un). Maybe it's time for the nation to come together and try and get along. President-elect Trump has not taken office yet, however it seems that there are those of you who have got a bee in your bonnets and refuse to admit that there is a possibility that he can get this economy moving along with the other problems you dear leader has left and appears to add to the problems. I guess your Democrats can't follow their own advice, but what do you expect of petulant children.

Actually I'm hoping they wind up more unhappy with him than the left already is. There's nothing like a loose cannon with no moral center. It's also interesting that Republicans used to think that personal morality was a key part of fitness for office until Trump. Now it's not important to them proving lack of a moral center in the party itself.

He won't. If he were serious about it, he wouldn't be focused on manufacturing jobs. He'd be focusing on revamping education and making America "great" by making it a dominant global force in technology. Manufacturing is so last century, last millennium, it's time we update our economy to be based around technology and high-tech jobs. The "shared economy" is likely to become more the norm if we don't, and it's a pretty silly thing in a Capitalist-heavy post-industrialism society that still functions on an industrial model.

What? That they should have it as a lower priority and just gotten rid of it later rather than sooner?
They wanted to get rid of any reference to ethics given the unethical storm of corruption they've been waiting to unleash. Now they have to bide their time for a bit before they can sell their souls and the country down the river to the highest bidder, foreign or domestic, corporeal or non-corporeal.

Because many Republicans were working for the Democratic party doesn't means that all Republicans are working for them.

In 2018, if Democrats don't fair well (which they typically don't given it's not a Presidential election), I suspect they can build on moment of "anyone but Trump," and as well for Congress if they can play upon the sentiments that most people are just tired and over of hearing about things like gay marriage and transgender restroom use and medical marijuana that we end up with a Democrat Congress and President.
However, if Democrats do well in 2018, I don't voters being as willing to give power to one party like that. It will be interesting though to see how the Republican and Trump supporter's "We won, that's all that matters" plays out, because in all reality the Democrats only needed a few scoops more votes and the tables would have been turned. Due to this, hopefully in 2020 we'll see a massive Democrat movement to get people to go vote, and vote Blue.

Fool!
Have you not figured out yet that I'd let the market determine wages.
Now if you wanted to argue that the minimum wage be kept low but income subsided by government out of taxes on the upper crust, I'd be tempted to consider it.
That would be better.
But factually your argument is simplistic and often inaccurate. - It's not that simple at all.
Dirndlekopf!
I'm arguing that it's too complex to predict so specific an outcome.
Just someone's opinion based upon faulty analysis.
Experts opined that Obamacare would lower costs.
Experts said Saddam had WMDs.
Experts predicted increased hurricane frequency.
How'd those work out?
