I'm going to hold my breath until this is mentioned by Donald Trump and reported by Fox News. Or, maybe not.

I would like to see this reported by our news media period. Yes we must condemn the terror groups like Isis and al queda, but this must be balanced by showing that their are many peaceful Muslims that just want to live their lives with their families in safety like all of us.

Bingo! There seems to be a hesitation to show Muslims with any qualities that might make it easier to humanize them. This goes for most news sources, it is a real shame.

Hah! Whilst I am regularly having smh moments at my own country these days, a Muslim news presenter won the gold logie (basically a popularity contest for best tv personality).
Even better, both he and his wife have provided consistently positive Muslim role models with both their level-headed intelligence and their ability to articulate themselves to the wider public.

I think the majority of Muslims all across the world were always anti-ISIS. There is not a single mainstream scholar who supported them and having known literally hundreds if not thousands of muslims in my life time, I have not met one who even to a tiny degree supports ISIS or is sympathetic towards them.

You are right brother.

That is awesome! Do you think Fox news will follow suit with a Muslim news presenter? ;) (I don't think we should hold our breath)

*laughs*

I hope not. It would be tokenism if they did, and I dread to think what sort of person they would pick. I guess people have different opinions about Waleed, as with any presenter, but I find him singularly impressive.

If you read your own link, it finds that the so called scholars who supported ISIS were arrested or criminals, so I got back to my original post, where I stated "mainstream scholars" not guys who have grown a beard, posted themselves on youtube and have become sheiks. They are criminals and have been treated as thus by islamic nations around the world. We can not and should not label them as scholars and they are certainly not mainstream.

It may be true that most Muslims are opposed to Daesh, but that doesn't make them opposed to views that are profoundly unacceptable to the rest of us. A recent survey of British Muslims showed that although only (!) 11% supported Daesh
> 27% have "some sympathy" with the bombing of Charlie Hebdo (the percentage was highest for under-24s!)
> 52% want homosexual behaviour made illegal
> 20% agree that "Western liberal society can never be compatible with Islam"
> 31% want polygamy legalised (again the figure is higher for under-24s)
> 35% say Jews have too much power in the UK
> 23% want to live under Sharia Law.

It wouldn't suprise me if a significant portion of those individuals who hold such views are children of immigrants, and have a rose-tinted idea of sharia society, as opposed to their parents who decided to move to the UK.
