The Mystical Benefits of Perineum Sunning

Samantha Rinne

A great example of the Mystic Way of Knowing:

An Instagram 'healer' is promoting 'perineum sunning,' and it turns out she's not the only fan. Here's what medical professionals think about it.

How sad that doctors keep promoting "scientism" with their demands for strong, verifiable evidence. They just don't know what they're missing! :peach::blacksunrays:

A post from an Instagram "healer" who goes by "Metaphysical Meagan" has gone viral because she claims to have regulated her circadian rhythm by aiming her butthole at the sky.

Meagan said this "perineum sunning" boosts her energy, improves her sleep, and even increases her sexual energy and creativity.

She said 30 seconds is "the equivalent of a full day of sunlight with your clothes on" and the practice is "truly more energizing than slamming cups of coffee."

The post was circulated on Twitter by user @sisterofonline, who posted screenshots and commented "People out here butt-chugging sunlight." The tweet has since gone viral.

'It prevents against the leakage of chi'
After receiving this attention, Meagan posted another pictureexplaining "perineum sunning" even further, adding that it's an ancient Taoist practice that originated in the Far East.

"In Taoism, the perineum or Hui Yin is called the 'Gate of Life and Death,'" she said. "This is a gateway where energy enters & exits the body."

She also claimed solar energy "strengthens the organs" and "prevents against the leakage of chi or life force energy from the body."

"My experience with perineum sunning has been profound," she said. "I would highly recommend this to anyone who is seeking optimal health and wellness and to those looking to connect with their sexual energy in a balanced way."

She said sunscreen isn't needed, but added, as a disclaimer: "THE INTENTION OF THIS IS NOT TO TAN YOUR BUTTHOLE!!!!"

Metaphysical Meagan did not immediately respond to Insider's request for further comment.

However, she credited another healer, who goes by "ra_of_earth," for introducing her to the technique.

In one post on his Instagram he said ailments like vaginal infections and hemorrhoids are "diseases of laziness" and can be prevented by "regular washing" and "exposure to sunlight."

According to Yahoo, "Big Little Lies Actress" Shailene Woodley is also into this ritual. She told Into The Gloss she gives her vagina "a little vitamin D" to boost her energy in the winter months.

"I was reading an article written by an herbalist I studied about yeast infections and other genital issues. She said there's nothing better than vitamin D," she said.

"If you're feeling depleted, go in the sun for an hour and see how much energy you get. Or, if you live in a place that has heavy winters, when the sun finally comes out, spread your legs and get some sunshine."

Health experts aren't convinced of the benefits 'perineum sunning'
However, according to health experts, these claims are unfounded.

"There is no evidence that sunbathing in this way has any effect on physical wellbeing," Dr Diana Gall from Doctor-4-U told Insider. "Yes, practicing mindfulness and meditation, and getting your dose of Vitamin D, is beneficial for mental and physical health, but you don't need to damage your skin in the process from sun exposure."

She said Vitamin D can be absorbed safely while using sunblock, but exposing your skin directly is not worth the damage and increased risk of skin cancer.

"Practicing mindfulness comes in many different and safer forms, and there are no extra benefits of doing this naked in the sun," she said.

Shamir Patel, the founder of Chemist 4 U, told Insider that while Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones, teeth, and muscles, there are far easier ways than "exposing your perineum to sunlight." He also agreed there was no benefit to doing so.

"While the healer is only promoting 30 seconds of irregular sun exposure, a sustained period of doing so, could lead to long term sun damage," he said. "I would suggest that going on a long walk in the sun is much more beneficial, and if you're in need of a boost, then taking a supplement is much more practical than perineum sunning."

I wouldn't be convinced of "experts" warnings of skin cancer. For one thing, she is only doing this for 5 minutes a day, hardly a risk factor of anything (aside from blood rush to your brain) since the average person is outside more than that. For another, the average person has been brainwashed by scares of skin cancer. I can show you a map of countries where skin cancer is high, and it is not necessarily the warmest or sunniest. It's the countries that are most likely to wear sunscreen. In fact, sunscreen has been shown to react to the skin when it heats up, making it worse for the body than even tanning.

Sunscreen and the Lies We’ve Been Told About the Real Causes of Skin Cancer

Lack of sunlight means lack of vitamin D, which is a necessary nutrient for the body’s immune system to function properly. Low vitamin D levels are linked to health problems, including cancer. Appropriate sun exposure helps maintain adequate levels of vitamin D. Using sunscreen interferes with that exposure and could be contributing to the rise in skin cancer.

Sunscreen often contains cancer-causing chemicals that bake into the skin and get absorbed into the bloodstream, over-taxing the liver with toxins. Here are some of the offenders:

  1. OMC – The main chemical used in sunscreens to filter out UVB is octyl methoxycinnamate (aka “OMC”) which has been shown to kill mouse cells even at low doses. Plus, it was also shown to be particularly toxic when exposed to the sun. And guess what? OMC is present in the vast majority of sunscreen brands!
  2. Titanium dioxide – another common ingredient in sunscreens, has been classified as “a potential occupational carcinogen” by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
  3. Oxybenzone – oxybenzone becomes carcinogenic when exposed to the sun and has been found to be a hormone disruptor! The Environmental Working Group (EWG) recommends consumers avoid oxybenzone, and yet it remains in many major brands of sunscreen.
  4. Derivatives of vitamin A such as retinol and retinyl palmitate – AOL News reported that about half the sunscreens tested in a study contained derivatives of vitamin A such as retinol and retinyl palmitate. These ingredients have been found to be photocarcinogenic by the FDA’s own studies, meaning the ingredients become toxic and cancer causing when exposed to sunlight.
  5. Diesopropyl adipate – in 2006, the National Toxicology Program reported that diesopropyl adipate, another ingredient in many sunscreens, increased the incidence of tumors in laboratory animals.

We have a family friend who is 80+ and tans regularly. Her body looks dry and incredibly tan, but unlike my dad whose wife is telling him "Don't forget your sunscreen!" she isn't constantly getting chunks cut from her skin.

So yes, perineum sunning, or sticking your bum in the air is kinda stupid. But its practitioners will be happy to know that the very doctors that stay indoors under artificial lights and wear sunscreen will get cancer long before they do.

Look for yourself. Notice the highest number of cases are not in the Middle East, Northern Africa, or near the equator, but in America, Europe (including Norway and Sweden!) and Australia.

Despite failing to rule out a confounding variable, your explanation is still way too science-like for this thread. Have you considered the fact that imbalanced qi has been shown to cause cancer? Our qi is pretty out of whack in North America and Europe.

This is pretty funny - but on a serious note - there is this thing called a 'ranger bath'. When I was in the military, I heard tales of soldiers that were unable to bathe for long periods of time stripping and just laying in the sun for a bit - front and back I suppose.
This sort of thing may have had some real 'health benefits' - being funky for a week and stripping and laying in the sun allows things to air out and dry off a bit. Plus, UV light kills many critters growing on you, or at least slows them down.

Of course, this was not advocated or prescribed as something that would joggle you Chi or whatever nonsense that is.
