The new Twitter (X): Elon Musk and Freedom of Speech

As you guys know, I love Elon. He's a fantastic man, especially from a spiritual point of view.
He has a beautiful soul, as J.W. Goethe defined it.

Why? Because he values freedom of speech. He bought Twitter because he wanted to give people freedom of speech.

Freedom is the most beautiful thing God has given us. God treats us as His children, and wants us to be free. Free to express ourselves and to say things.

But...of course we all cannot agree on the same things. It's okay, if you don't agree with a person. But why should you censor someone you don't agree with? It's really irrational.

Voltaire used to say: Je ne suis pas d'accord avec ce que vous dites, mais je me battrai jusqu'à la mort, pour que vous aviez le droit de le dire.

- Why do certain people dislike Musk?
- Why don't they approve of the way he manages X?
- Do you agree with Voltaire's sentence?

Thank you in advance. :)

That is what he claimed but that doesn't mean it's true. He even called himself a "free speech absolutist" but it unsurprisingly turned out he does apply limitations, just like everyone else (including the previous Twitter owners). The only difference is with where and how to draw the line(s).

Why do certain people dislike Musk?
Mostly his arrogance and self-importance I think. It'll be a major part of what has made him a successful businessman but that doesn't usually make for a good human being.

Why don't they approve of the way he manages X?
The way he went about the acquisition, including trying to back out of it. Sacking a whole load of employees on a whim. Trying to avoid paying bills and taxes. Making rapid changes to the site, apparently seeking to turn it in to what he wants it to be without any consideration for the established user-base. Dropping one of the most recognised brands in the world and replacing it with a ridiculous alternative just because he thinks it's cool and funny.

Do you agree with Voltaire's sentence?
Yes, but there is a world of difference between saying things other people disagree with and saying things which could be harmful. The difficult (arguably impossible) part is clearly identifying the difference.

Because he is a blatant hypocrite. He won't let others insult him.
- Why don't they approve of the way he manages X?

Let's see, he paid twice what it was worth and then made it worth even less. Luckily he is not in my stock portfolio, but those that follow him and mirror his investments have been greatly harmed by his latest shenanigans.
- Do you agree with Voltaire's sentence?

To a degree. Threats excluded yes. But here is where Musk is a huge hypocrite. The one way to get sanctioned on Twitter was to insult Musk. The fastest way to lose a job working for him is to correct one of his mistakes. The man was brilliant until he drank his own Kool Aid .
Thank you in advance. :)

Here you go. Musk said he would help anyone who gets in legal trouble over using Twitter. The least he could do is condemn what the Saudi regime is about to do to this man just for criticizing his government. Want to know why your idol Elon has gone silent? Saudi Arabia owns large portions of shares in both Tesla and Twitter (X). Musk is a pretentious self serving schmuck. Your "freedom of speech" ends if it criticizes him or does not serve his own interest.

But let's say that the Woke Party has a very peculiar vision of freedom of speech, based on doublestandardism:
that is...if one insults Trump, that's a sacred right. It's freedom of speech.

If JK Rowling expresses her own views on womanhood, she is crucified, because that's hate speech.

Too many double standards in the US.
Too many. :)

By the way, I kindly asked people here to answer my three questions. The all three. :)
Not just one or two.

Well...that's bad.
We are speaking of opinions on politics here.

The previous management would censor many people just for expressing their political opinion.

So I don't know who the lesser of two evils is.
Do you?

The anti-woke party is way worse. They are working on criminalizing being transgender, even gay or lesbian. It's called Project 2025, it's gaining support and it's a serious threat to democracy in the US unlike the imaginary boogeyman they call "woke".

Who decides what is harmful and what is not?

If one speaks of undetermined people...of abstract situations, it can never harm anyone.

If I say that the Vatican is rotten to the core, am I mentioning people?

;)

It seems to me that the Woke Party wants to formulate a very partial and biased notion of harmful and impose it on everyone. That's dictatorship.

You refuse to face an actual fact that is right there in front of you. What is the matter with you?

No it isn't dictatorship. But you love right wing dictatorships. Don't you?
