The new Twitter (X): Elon Musk and Freedom of Speech

Honestly, in Europe I mostly see free-speech absolutists, me included.
Yes, there are. :)
So you're in favour of eliminating all restrictions and moderation on social media like Twitter, including the ones Musk has continued or introduced? Porn, fraud, viruses, terrorism, threats, blackmail... all fair game?

Freedom of political speech exist in the US.
...maybe.
Roseanne Barr's tweet....what about it?

In fact you appear to oppose it.

I don't oppose anything. I am for absolute freedom of speech.
We are all entitled to our opinions.

Twitter is not a public forum in the sense of being owned by the government. It is owned by a corporation. The owners have their own right to free speech and as a result they do have the ability to determine what can be said on their forum.
As for example... the proprietor of a restaurant in Virginia was entitled to chase away Sarah Huckabee Sanders just because she was Trump's spokesperson. That's what Sarah's crime was.
In my country it's forbidden to do that. The Government gives you a licence to be nice to paying customers.
We consider public services to be public. The ownership is irrelevant. It's public.

Just as we have free speech here, but I know that if I write "****" you will only see "****". Now one of those did have a "naughty" word in it. One did not. My "free speech" was not taken away because I agreed to that when I came here. In other words, when Twitter banned certain speech because it was harmful no one there had there free speech taken away from them.

My point is that the Left dictates what's good and what's bad. What's tellable and what is not.

Now one can point out how Musk was a hypocrite because he said that he was going to get rid of all of these regulations on Twitter, but then he contradicted himself by putting his own self serving ones on it. Oddly enough you do not hear any people opposing Musk for taking away their free speech. Why it is almost as if they understand the concept.
Honestly I have seen tweets with the word cis on it.

Yes...sure. In a parallel universe...maybe.

It's the philosophy of the Marquis Del Grillo...as we call it.

Sorry, but then you are limiting the free speech of the owners of those various establishments. No one can be 100% for free speech as you claim because it ends up being a self refuting concept.

I would allow any political opinion.
Yes.

If people come to express their political opinion, kindly and respectfully....they're welcome.

What you mentioned are not political opinions. Porn, etc... is not a political opinion.
:)

I apply a principle that is equal for all.

The woke party does want to censor political opinions, so we are different. I am tolerant. :)
Are you though? You appear to oppose the free speech of various internet providers. They are owned by people too with their own free speech.

In the US doublestandardism has been normalized, unfortunately.

Insulting Trump is a sacred right, because they say he is an international swine.
Insulting Hillary is outrageous because she is the immaculate saint, virgin and martyr. Amen.

:)
No, you apply a double standard against owners of businesses. It appears that you oppose capitalism. Oh noessss! She is woke!!

As you guys know, I love Elon. He's a fantastic man, especially from a spiritual point of view.
He has a beautiful soul, as J.W. Goethe defined it.

Why? Because he values freedom of speech. He bought Twitter because he wanted to give people freedom of speech.

Freedom is the most beautiful thing God has given us. God treats us as His children, and wants us to be free. Free to express ourselves and to say things.

But...of course we all cannot agree on the same things. It's okay, if you don't agree with a person. But why should you censor someone you don't agree with? It's really irrational.

Voltaire used to say: Je ne suis pas d'accord avec ce que vous dites, mais je me battrai jusqu'à la mort, pour que vous aviez le droit de le dire.

- Why do certain people dislike Musk?
- Why don't they approve of the way he manages X?
- Do you agree with Voltaire's sentence?

Thank you in advance. :)
Oh boy. Where do I start?

Let's go straight to the target: he is a self-entitled fool with no ethics nor wisdom.

Censoring the people you don't agree with is intolerance. It's not freedom of speech.

woke doublestandardism:
A restaurant owner has the right to chase away Huckabee Sanders, because she works for Trump.
But a baker cannot refuse to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple.
Double standards.

I am coherent: neither shall be allowed to reject a customer.
Are you a baker? Just bake that cake for the gay couple.

He is currently taking legal action against the ADL for excercising free speech.

You did not specify. Opinions can include hate speech.

As I said...too many double standards on what hate speech is.

Meaning: insulting Trump is a sacred right because the woke party thinks he is a pig, so he deserves it.
But JK Rowling tweeting about what womanhood is, that's hate speech.

Double standards.

Unfortunately I need to be extremely blunt.
It really seems very weird and irrational to me.
Because sexual orientation and political opinions are pretty the same thing. It's individualistic freedom.
So I don't understand how double standards apply.
:)

I think it largely depends on what kind of opinions they hold and where/how they're expressing them. When you're at work, you're expected to work, not engage in political activities.

Roseanne Barr tweeted that thing...and she was fired by ABC.
She was home.
She wasn't acting in her show....

In my country there's so much tolerance.
I will just say that. :)

People are more relaxed...they couldn't care less what others think or say.
They don't take life that seriously. And live better.
