No doubt, It is a shame dogs only live a decade or so. I know you will miss him.
I'm sorry to hear about Shep. It's so sad for a beloved pet to go.
I still tear up sometimes (like now) when I think about our last pet that I loved so much -- and it's been about 4 years.

I know how that feels. I get deeply depressed and break into tears when I think about some of my pets who have died.
