so you don't believe science and the big bang theory?
Yes. I know them far better than you, being a scientist and everything. Neither science nor Big Bang theory supports anything you say. I know since I have taken cosmology courses in college.

This is really a response to the ex-Muslim thread with seems to have been moved/deleted. :(

You come to examine your Holy scripture honestly, in my case the Bible being ex-Christian, and assuming God is, should be perfect, why then is the book which is claimed to possess God's authority so imperfect?

It's easy to come up with any number of explanations as to why this is. One can stretch credulity to it's limits in a effort to keep your religion/faith true. However at some point some come to realize they are only fooling themselves.

Once you come to accept the possibility that the book containing God's authority may be imperfect how certain can one be that any of it is perfect/accurate?

One is left to guess/justify which parts remain perfect. What authority does any man really possess to accomplish this?

Maybe there is a God, maybe not but what, information by man, in the possession of man is trustworthy enough to accept any truth about God?

I say there is none so reserve a decision as to the nature of God until such trustworthy information is available.

How could a perfect loving God expect anything more from me?
My guess is that if you need a book to validate your experience you are on pretty shaky ground to begin with.

Not true in the sense that most Christians claim they are accurate and true.

Many Christian believe Bible is accurate and true and so do I. Bible has more credibility to me than you and those who claim Bible is not accurate and true.

Appealing to the popularity of those that believe is fallacious twice over. Begging the question and the fallacy of appealing to popularity. The Bible is the Bible and it is the believers that claim the credibility. Jews do not believe the NT has credibility. Most if not all secular academic scholars do not consider the Bible accurate and true as other devoted believers and you do. Assertions of belief do not make something true.

and I like to meditate on the moment.....

BANG!.......Let there be light!

Of course, drop a bomb and there will be light!

BANG! is not necessary. Simply go turn on the light switch.

. . . but other than this you are simply making simplistic assertion,

True, and Genesis is based old Babylonian, Canaanite, and Ugarit mythology, and in the beginning there were many Gods.
nay...again

regardless of it's origin....scripture will always be contested

denying the beginning....is futile

all of motion had a beginning
the beginning had a Cause
are you attempting to say otherwise?
Motion is not what started time. There was never a motionless state. In fact the singularity would be the complete opposite of motionless. God being eternal, time is a “cooling down” of Gods timelessness.
