Apparently my dad is still determined to move to California to get away from Indiana winters (and most likely California specifically because their friends who snowbird move there), and he plans on selling the house here to get a house out there. "There goes your inheritance" is how my mom phrased it to me, as she had planned on leaving everything to me since I wasn't born into the wealth and privilege my half-siblings were. But, that's if my dad lives that long. He's supposed to be on bed/chair rest, pretty much full confinement, doing absolutely nothing due to injuries sustained over a fall, but yet it's a struggle to keep him out of the garage and not over exerting himself.
But, really, the crappy part of them still wanting to move is visiting them here was going to be my excuse and reason for occasionally making it back to the larp games here. Those games alone are pretty much the only regret I could have over leaving here.

Worry not.
There are nerds in Californiastan.

And a penniless parent means siblings won't be fighting over money.
After 5 years of having my mentally challenged brother spending the
trust he administers to sue me, I've already spent far more in legal
fees than I ever could've inherited.) And he's not done yet.

Oh, if only the old b****** had run out of money before his dirt nap.

It's not the lack of nerds, but almost a cult-like feeling of being accepted into a group, being included, and a part of something that I haven't had before that almost had me crying to leave after this last game knowing it's probably going to be one of my last ones here. Normally check out is done and I'm excited for the next game and to see everyone again next month, but this time as I was walking down the path to the parking lot I was overcome with depression knowing if my plans happen as I plan, I'll only have two more games because December is it until March, and mid-late December is when I will start really looking into work/living arrangements in California. Of course it may not happen in a few months, but it could.

You'll find a new cult.

We're already fighting over things. Such as mom's Victrola, something both my siblings want but I have been adamant they don't know enough about music, they don't appreciate it enough, and they certainly aren't the audiophiles I am, so it should be mine according to me. That, and my sister wouldn't know what to do with it except hock it (for far less than what it's actually worth because she doesn't even fully realize what it is), and my brother is a pack rat and it would get buried under boxes and piles if he got it. I probably wouldn't use it much myself, but it hold a special place in my collection, much like the original-first-run-release vinyl of Black Sabbath's debut album I have.

Fighting over things is cheaper than when an idiot has someone else's inheritance to spend as he wishes.

Yes, we're here in great numbers and filling all the ecological niches which nerds (and geeks) can occupy. Of course I speak of geeks as well as nerds. The speciation is proceeding apace with nerds and geeks slowly getting more distinct.

I think when I get to around LA, I'm going to join the Satanic Temple. But moving from the land of Amish and cows and corn to such a massive city, I imagine my list of things I'm going to want to do is going to be very long and will take me awhile to get around to it all. I'm going to want to go to symphonies, and go watch plays, seeing all those bands in concerts who never come to Indiana (and a local scene that isn't on life support/barely existent), art galleries and museums, and so many groups and activities. Where will I even start?

Don't forget Disneyland :D

I liked Santa Monica, which is rather close to LA but the majority of my time in LA was at LAX.

The more I learned about LA and its surrounding areas, I think that describes my time in LA. And I our LAX whatever hotel, watching the night sky, I was mesmerized by all the planes flying in, looking like a stream of meteors coming in.

I'm watching horror movies tonight, because it's Satanic, and it, it, it empowers demonic forces and feeds demons......it's very dangerous.
