I just realized that the reason I like apples better than oranges is that oranges are too much work.

It's not just California.
When I buy $10 worth of beer, about $7 dollars of the price is tax.
And I still have to pay sales tax on the entire purchase price. Because my Republican state legislature, and they are very big on job killing tax hikes.
The only time they oppose taxes is when the tax payer isn't a regular citizen.

As long as the taxpayers are middle or lower class people, who don't make 5, 6, or 7 figure donations, they're all about cranking taxes. Then they call it fiscal sanity.

And having lived and worked in Indiana, the level of services for tax dollars there seems, well, rather limited...

Or when it comes time to subsidize the Colts by giving them corporate socialism to build a new ****ing stadium at the taxpayers expense, even if they hate football, are out of town, out of state, it's inexcusable that sick a wealthy corporation was given our money that they didn't need. The Colts should be made to at least reimburse Indiana residents over that atrocity and told if they want another they will pay for it themselves. Or start supporting socialist policies if they want a needs based distribution so things aren't so absurdly stacked and weighted towards corporations that bring low wage jobs and get to take so much more than they give back while Indiana remains a fairly poor state of dead ends and few decent opportunities (been awhile since I've ranted about Indianas very generous corporate welfare system).

Yup. It shocks people in both Indiana and California to learn Indiana taxed my income more than what California does. At 30000/year I'll be taxed what I was in Indiana, but there I just didn't have that kind of earning potential. California provides it well enough that I can make that driving people around if I put a little more time into it.

You poor soul. For you existentialist nightmares and struggles in that state you shall be granted top grade housing in the afterlife where the gods will take great pity on your soul.
And, yeah, if you dont open a big business location like a factory or food processing plant you wont ever see that much for your taxes unless you're poor enough for their medicid program. And I don't miss having to swerve like im drunk to dodge tire shredding pot holes.

No kidding.

My parents were really unhappy about that tax hike.
Luckily for them, they lived close to the Johnson county line. They just stopped buying in Marion County, they just went down the road a bit.

Doubtless the local merchants had more problem with that piece of socialism, since they couldn't just move away.

Ach, whoo carez about speling.
Take the word orange for example.
If you spell it "orange" people know you are referring to the fruit.
If you spell it "orange" people know you are referring to the color.

So you can clearly see that using "orange" when you meant "orange" can cause problems.
Especially when dealing with color coded systems.

Microwaves are such liars.
I put a potato in it, pressed the "Pizza" button, and when the dinger dinged, I opened the microwave, it was STILL a potato!

That's capitalism for you. Now if you were a billionaire, you'd have the secret special microwave link to Washington and your potato would be turned into a solid gold pizza with a special government handout.
