What I really liked about DS9 was non-static characters. What happened earlier is reflected in the characters in later episodes. And there was no black/white good/evil dichotomy, at least one that lasted. The writers also had the guts to finish the series in a way that I still remember today unlike others. Voyager for me had a few too many deus et machina including the ending.I'm trying to get into one of the later Star Trek series, as I've about finished TNG.
DS9 has some things I like, like the episode that mentions Dax going from a male host to a female host (although TNG's episode with trans issues was much better), and Quark is funny, at least several TNG characters are in, but it just seems so dry. No exploration, no boldy going where no one has gone before, and how the hell does Odo manage to sneak into the right places at the right time?
Voyager, at least it's on a star ship and has some of the stuff TOS and TNG has that DS9 doesn't.
Enterprise...nope.
I'm also heavily biased towards towards classically trained actors, and because Patrick Stewart is a Royal Shakespearean, it will take a lot for me to think any other captain is better.
Same here.I never could get into Voyager, and I tried. And because of Voyager I never really watched Enterprise much, never got into that either, but then I never really tried to
more awesomenessBtw.....
Same here.
It's like they started just phoning it in after STTNG.
(I wonder what non-nerds think of these arcane discussions?)
TNG characters aren't static either. Data is constantly working towards his goal, many times Worf struggles with his more human upbringing clashing with the ways that Klingons normally behave, and of course there is the relation between Q and Picard, which is much more interesting than the relation between Q and Sisco. And of course Picard is both despised and revered by the Klingon High Council, which is really quite an accomplishment. In general I found TNG characters to be the best ones of the five. What I really liked about DS9 was non-static characters.
Things aren't always easy in TNG, with the morality of the Prime Directive being called into question numerous times. And there was no black/white good/evil dichotomy, at least one that lasted.
What they should be thinking "I am really missing out one of the greatest series ever made, and I should really start watching."(I wonder what non-nerds think of these arcane discussions?)
