I hate stupid people. I went to vote, where I've always went in the past, and they don't hold the voting there anymore. The people there told to go the fire station in a town about 10 miles away, and I got there, but the fire station is locked up. So I got home and found out voting is now in a different town about 10 miles from here. I didn't have the gas though to keep running around.
Today we voted on a huge tax increase for special education.
(They have plenty of money already.)
I voted against it, but it looks like it will pass.
(My area never saw a tax increase it didn't like.)
It'll cost me at least an extra $3000/year.

I'm feeling crushed now. I was feeling terrific earlier today, as I filled out my FAFSA, filled out an application to get my old job at the library back, and I was feeling fantastic, until I got an email from the head of the psychology department explaining they don't have everything cleared yet to start the master's program for psychology yet and they are not yet taking applications for it. So, as of now, I am not going back to school for my master's and I don't have a job waiting for me in three months.
Or maybe I'll go for an arts degree so I can have a solid background in art to start tattooing.

I want to break my sister's goddamned hands! She threw away my shower poof a few months ago, a toothbrush a couple months ago, and just today another tooth brush!
I dun toll you you shouldn't'a gone back to skool !

I agree, I should have quit before I started...but now it is to late....but it was more tiger mom meets bear that left me tired....... tigers are rather surprised at how unimpressed and unmovable a bear can be
Mrs Revolt's mother would'a been much happier if I had a regular job (preferably with government) or a PhD.
Them Chinese......so fixated on education.
I once attended a funeral for a Chinese guy.
He was a doctor.
His wife was a doctor.
One daughter was a doctor.
The other daughter was a veterinarian.
The son (Conrad) was an engineer.
One daughter spoke at the funeral, & said how proud he was of everyone who became a doctor, following this immediately up with "....and then there was Conrad.".
He had a good job, but was a disgrace because he was only an engineer without a PhD.

I believe it. Mrs Wu's younger sister is an engineer and Mrs Wu is a doctor... but the older brother...has no degree...and makes more money that anyone I know...this is very much a source of irritation to the Chinese relatives..
I am not going for this degree to impress the Chinese, I am going for ti because I am in a government job and have pretty much been dead ended. You might be surprised to know how much politics gets envolved in Govt jobs at certain levels..... you also migh be surprised to learn that bear are not at all good at politics..I would go as far as saying a bear is the antithesis of a politician.....but with the degree...I get really annoying and can't be ignored... and it gives me options to get the heck out of Dodge too.
Actually, I'm a big fan of bear politics.
They all act like libertarians.....eat, s***, f***, sleep, mind their own business, repeat.

Having worked for the government for a short time, gigantic and small business, politics is everwhere. In small companies it's often 1-on-1. In bigger ones large organization-vs-large organization. And through it all, the one unchanging truth, applicable to public and private institutions
Or as Asimov put it in the book title: "Against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain" (the story ending disputed the title but the book to me is a great one.).Spending over 2 decades in Govt.

I really want to go to this book signing in Louisville in July. Chuck Palahniuk is signing, the ticket price includes a hardback cover of Fight Club 2, and Chuck will sign that and two other items. I'll have him sign my copy of Invisible Monsters (my favorite novel of his) and my copy of Foucault's Discipline & Punish (Foucault being a huge driving force behind the philosophical depths of Palahniuk's novels, with Discipline & Punish being my favorite Foucault book). And Fight Club 2, it's a graphic novel, and I really hope the artist used Edward Norton as the model for the Narrator and Brad Pitt as the model for Tyler Durden, and of course Helena Bonham Carter as the model for Marla Singer. I gods I hope the Narrator remains unnamed.
