Anyone who cant do that shouldn't be a teacher. I string and tune my own guitar by ear, its not hard.

What kind of music do you like to play? I recall you have an ESP with a peavey amp so im sure you could turn out some rippin' Kirk Hammet solo's on that thing

Lately I have been learning classical rock covers (Hedwig, Alice Cooper, Oingo Boingo) for my own self satisfaction. The student I am teaching is 27 years old and he seems to enjoy metal (Paradise Lost, Sepultura) so I have to learn a few of his selections to teach him. He uses an electronic tuner to tune his guitar but I would prefer that he train his ear to discern whether his guitar is tuned.

Sorry i misread the previous post, i thought you said you were recieving guitar lessons, gosh not my day today.

I've been ripping the scorpions lately, they're fun to play, especially some of their later songs that are a bit more "metal orientated." Paradise lost is a good starting point, not so complicated, gets the fingers moving though. Get him onto slayer, they're much like sepultura, fast riffs with emphasis on being heavy. Gota love the song "roots, bloody roots," thats a metal classic by sepultura.

Oh yea!!!!!!!! Today I got my HORIZONTAL license!!!! I think it's like this in most states but we have vertical ones until you're 21, then you can get a horizontal one--yay!!!! :bounce
