I always used to hold my breath at the part where the ship goes completely under water...when Jack yells "now!" to Rose, just to see if I could hold it as long as they did. I could only do it some of the time..but I'm going to try to do it at that part. It's coming up soon! WOO!!!

:p I'm so damn geeky.

I am listening to a smooth jazz radio station.
I'm so sorry. ;)

Titanic was a great movie. It didn't make me cry (ok it did) but that's irrelevent. Can't show my weak side I suppose, hehe. Anyhow, it definatley desserved all the Oscar's and money it made. IT probally is one of my favorite if not favorite movie of the ninetie's.
Titanic bugs me. It's as if James Cameron said to himself, "yeah... an epic event in world history where the hubris of technology and modernity was shown to be false with a near-unimaginable toll in human life... that's not enough of a story. Let's replace it with a formulaic melodrama and make all that other stuff the backdrop." Grr.

If you want to see the real story, go look for A Night to Remember. The anniversary of the sinking is in April, so someone should be broadcasting it sometime soon.

Interesting geneaological tidbit: both sides of my family have connections to the Titanic: my Dad's side was from Belfast, and many of the people from my family worked in the shipyards (and on the Titanic specifically). On my Mom's side, my great-grandparents were honeymooning in New York City when the Carpathia arrived with the survivors. Many of them were put up in the hotel where my great-grandparents were staying.

Apparently, it was luck of the draw that none of my relatives were on the Titanic when it sunk. It's not common knowledge, but the ship went to sea unfinished. There was a large group of workmen on board doing things like interior finishing in some of the staterooms... almost all of them went down with the ship.
