It is thought that referring to oneself in the third person is better than referring to oneself in the passive voice.

Right now, I'm wishing that English had a fourth person.

Fourth person....one could consider referring to oneself in generic terms the fourth person, according to one source. And yes, the passive voice is not very helpful. Unless used by penguins. Then it's super cute.

Appparently some languages do have a "fourth person":

Obviative - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's kinda like the third person, but describing someone non-proximate. I think English could use that. It could eliminate a lot of confusion: "after he meets up with him, he's going to come back here."

We should invent it and be quoted in history books! "First created in 2011 by Penguin and Songbird, the fourth-person obviate form eliminated third-person deixis confusion."

Elementary, right? :D

I live in a perpetual state of deixis confusion. If you could release me from this Hell on Earth, I'd be eternally grateful.

Uh oh - I'm tempted to commit a crime now, just so I can plead "not guilty by reason of deixis confusion."

But we have an important matter to decide. Pronouns.

First person: I, me
Second person: you
Third person: He/she, him/her, they, them
Fourth person: ???

I can't think of any good ones right now.

Edit: light bulb! I have our fourth person pronouns: "himdere", "herdere" and "themdere" (or demdere).

"After he meets up with himdere, himdere's coming back here." Eureka! :D

Sigh....damn Canadians.

I'll get back to this after I tuck the birdlings in. They keep popping out of the nest.

This is excellent news! Just relax and be yourself -- that is, don't put on any masks in a mistaken effort to impress her. You'll be alright.

Do not have sex in the children's room of your host. You are not only being disrespectful to your host but you are also violating the personal space of the child. Especially when you do it on their bed.

My daughter(one of many, now) didn't know they were there and walked in on them. She cried for hours. Now if she weren't living at home it might have been a different story because then it would have been a guest room, but...

And these were old people who were even related to us. just guests visiting for the day

That is really weird. Why would someone do that?
