This is for all beliefs and ideologies.

This is not a debate.

What, if any, is your views on "The Rapture"?

The rapture is when the Aliens come and take a lot of humans away to see the universe, see Life of Brian for futher details. ;)

The Rapture is the taking to heaven of those who believe in Christ and God, by God. This will be done before a miriad of judgements will befall human kind.

Moved, since this is a bit more appropriate for Comparative Religion than Abrahamic Religions.

I don't believe in any kind of end of times rapture.

There isn't one, that I'm aware of. I mean, there's an end-of-times waters of Nun coming and swamping everything type scenario, though I don't take that literally, but nothing really equivalent to the Christian idea of the Rapture.

Maybe Sekhmet will start destroying mankind, and we'll have to get Her drunk to stop Her again. :D

The Rapture is one of those metaphorical truths one finds in sacred text. Its been going around us for more than 160 years and most people have taken no notice of it.

Hi!

IMHO the "rapture" is a classic example of getting twenty gallons out of a ten-gallon hat!

IOW, there's only a single Biblical verse having to do with this, that one vague and not in the least clear that it isn't a casual statement that people will be emotionally or spiritually involved. And yet a huge doctrinal edifice has been constructed out of and over this, with several competing detailed "sub-theories", the entire thing, so far as I can see, built very much on sand.

As ever, YMMV, but that's sure how I see it!

Peace,

Bruce

Interestingly enough, I just read this in a Islamic book by Maulana Ashiq Ilahi titled "What Happens After Death".
The following is a word for word quote icluding typos:
Chapter Title " Who will face the last day"
Hadrat Abdullah bin Umar (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing be upon him) said:
"After killing Dajjal (anti-Christ), Jesus Christ will live among the people for seven years. Almighty Allah will then send cold wind from Syria which will seize the soul of every virtuous and Allah-fearing person. Even if a person hides himself in the cave of a mountain he will not be saved."
Thereafter, only the wrong-doers will be left, who will move towards bloodshed and other acts of sin, till the sense of wrong and evil will get wiped out.
It then goes on about Satan leading the sinners further astray and the blowing of the Trumpet.
I am not a theologian or scholar, nor am I familiar with any of the authors works, so I cannot verify or deny any of it.

The rapture is the "catching away" of the saints, prior to the Antichrist's full reign on earth.
