The reason why Trump might pick Romney as secretary of state.

1. Because of his experience.
2. Because he born in Detroit.

Maybe Trump wants to fix Detroit. What do you guys think?

Lots of prominent Trump people are telling him not to appoint Romney, including his campaign manager

Okay we get it Donald, you're not petty, you can appoint former enemies who have insulted you. Please not Mitt though, the hawk who says Russia is America's biggest enemy and would go against the foreign policy you claimed you stood for in the campaign.

If he wants to fix Detroit then why the hell would he make him the secretary of state which is mostly concerned with foreign affairs?

So you'd rather have Rudy as Secretary?

Romney has less experience in the area of foreign policy than Hillary Clinton. He would be a terrible choice and a waste of his best talents.

I'm actually hoping the battle between Romney and Rudy becomes so bitter and intense that Trump chooses to instead pick a third candidate, which has happened in the past with previous administrations when two contenders for a cabinet spot get too heated.

I've heard that Petraeus is rising up as a contender for a third option, though I'm not sure what his exact views are and how willing he is to follow Trump's foreign policy, at least he has the relevant expertise.

I also have a more outside hope that Trump will go for a wildcard in Bernie supporter Tulsi Gabbard whom he had a meeting with a few days ago, but that really is more wishful thinking: http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-bl...abbard-is-the-pick-for-secretary-of-state-not

Trump is a businessman not exactly a politician. Would not a CEO of a business chose the best person available to help run the business as long as that person is supportive of the CEO's ideas of how the business is ran and be willing to challenge the CEO if they thought an idea was wrong? A bunch of yes-men does not make for a well ran business. Further a group of advisors to the President who only tell the President what they think the President wants to hear is bad for the country, as we have seen in the majority of the previous administrations.

Trump's selection for SoS might be even a better indicator of the direction Trump wants to go in vis-a-vis trying to appeal to moderate Republicans or sticking it to them instead. Picking Giuliani would be a disaster for a variety of reasons, but my guess is that Trump is more likely to go with him in order to appease his base.

Personally, I think Romney or Giuliani would be a disaster. I'd tell you my pick but you would probably burst into flames, LOL.

He has very strong views and would not be afraid to stand up to Trump.
He is a former ambassador to the UN who is no stranger to the art of diplomacy.
And it would be such fun to see Liberals/Lefties heads explode at the thought. :)

True, he does have very strong views, and has foreign policy experience for sure. I'm not really a fan of the whole interventionist regime-change spread-peace-and-love-around-the-world stuff though, are you?
