just thought it would be interesting for some of us to say a little about what made us choose the avatar we use :)

Jaya Jagannatha!
I'm the first :)

Sita and Rama in a playful and romantic mood together... reminds me of 'Sundara Kanda' - the most romantic and nicest portion of Ramayana that is recited by millions each day.

Young Rama and Sita are so much engrossed in their chat - as if time stands still..

Ok, I am reverting back to Sri Puri Jagannatha for you, sister ji! :)

(I had earlier chosen the avatara of Sri Jagannatha since I had dreamt of Sri Krishna one night and since Sri Jagannatha is a deity I am longing to visit and have a darshan of)...

I used to use the endless knot which is a buddhist symbol for unity because the purpose of my posting was to bring a little wisdom to bear on some topics which seemed to cause constant arguement ....I used to post on another small buddhist site because allthough I am practicing vaisnava I still very much love buddhist philosophy ...well I got run off that sight for not agreeing with the narrow veiw of the owner .... apparently only one sect counted ??? ..... and that sadened me so I began posting here using the endless knot ...unity to all things .....then one day I realised that people just love arguing ....they love to ask questions to which they do not want answers because they allready think that they are right before asking , they just want to prove how right they are ....:(

so I changed my avatar to manjushri one of the two buddhist yidams I was given in a previous life , manjushri is the embodiment of the buddhas wisdom he holds a flaming sword in one hand and in the other the perfection of wisdom sutra , the sword is to cut ignorance to the core and burn every last vestage of its roots , this is no violent act , it is one of compassion as it offers in the place of ignorance he is the bestower of wisdom ...:)

this sadhana still very much colours the way I think as a vaisnava , ... I dont like ignorance , .... not that anothers ignorance bothers me personaly , .... but when we have such a wonderfull opertunity to develop bhakti , there is no room for ignorance it is a waste of a precious life :)

so sometimes I sound angry , I am not , I am just trying to combat ignorance , we have to occaisionaly fight back to preserve dharma:namaste

I am a great devotee of the green-hued manifestations of Devi, as you can see in my avatar. This would include not only Meenakshi, but also the loving partner of Muruga called Valli.

You will notice, She is slightly looking downward. This is Her expression She will give on certain moments, not the least of which is when in matrimony to Deva.

Those who love the Devi of such manifestation as I do, know why She is an avatar which you want to share Her beauty with others!

Mine is Subhas Chandra Bose.
I like the Bloke, its more of a man crush actually :D

Plus he actually went to Germany and met Hitler and the SS leader for their support for freedom of India, they did not help but i admire him as a person who had the guts to stand up to the British and the courage to seek alliance with people who would have killed him just because of his skin color.

To me he was a great leader, there are not many people left who will risk their life for their nation (Whatever nation that may be)

I chose mine because it has...anime girl, a katana, fancy kanji script and the flag of imperial Japan? o_O

...which is supposed to stand for 'Zenist Shugendo' in some very, very vague and ambiguous way.
