The republicans don't really want the White House

For a while now I've been thinking the republicans don't really want the White House. That's why you even see their own media people, like Fox, going after Trump and Carson. My thinking is they want to work on building their base up at the state levels and keep that going and work on issues at that level. Try to over turn the Affordable Care Act and other issues the "base" cares about like that (Planned Parenthood, the border etc).

They want to take back the House and Senate and work on their "brand." I think Carson and Trump is part of that. You have two outsiders who are playing to both sides of their base. The religious side and the I don't care either way for religion side.

This is why I'm really hoping for Bernie. He has serious policy plans that can really change things for the better or at least get started on changing things. He has been known to work with politicians. Even now, as he's campaigning, he's going to DC and proposing legislation.

If it's Hillary we'd just relive the 90's literally. Everything from her business plans to immigration issues and war issues. The drama with the republicans. It won't really get anything done.

I figure with that the republicans want Hillary to win so they can beat her like they have Obama. He's just a test run. If it's Sanders what are they going to do? Cry socialism at everything?

What do you think? Do you think the republicans want the presidency?

Which Republicans? They're two parties - right wing populists and right wing plutocrats. The plutocrats certainly want power so they can give the rich more tax cuts and cut benefits for the middle-class and the poor. The populists correctly oppose crony capitalism but their solution is to gut government hoping that solves the problem.

The Republican party and they certainly are all one big bundled messed up bunch.

Hello LittlePinky82.. In answer to your question, I don't know. Personally I have very little faith in either party. I think American politics has become professional wrestling, no reality, for entertainment purposes only. I don't want Hillary and don't really see any on the Republican side that gets my attention either.
I'm not so sure it really matters as its usually business as usual whoever gets it. But that being said, I will vote.

Take back the House and Senate? They already have the majority in both houses.

And you think he will be able to work with a republican controlled House and Senate? Seriously?

I figure with that the republicans want Hillary to win so they can beat her like they have Obama. He's just a test run. If it's Sanders what are they going to do? Cry socialism at everything?
Probably, LOL. No doubt he would have them laughing in the aisles so it might help keep their spirits up.

What do you think? Do you think the republicans want the presidency?
What a truly odd question. Of course. They want the triple crown, as it were.

Sometimes it doesn't really matter if you vote or not. Especially like in my situation where I'm in a southern state and the electoral college vote isn't going towards who I want anyways and never does lol.

Yes, he has in the past.

No, I don't think so. Why do you think they have two fools? Even Hillary is beating them.

It would be an even bigger victory for Hillary to get it and they can "stop Hillary." These fools have been wanting her blood since the 90's when she was just a first lady.

If they didn't want the White House then they would be supporting Trump and Carson. Some of the others actually have a chance of winning.

The establishment Republicans very much want to win, but know that they can't win with either of those 2 buffoons.

You may be right. To me personally its just the principle. I feel I should vote so I do. I have a close friend who feels the same as you. He never votes the way the electoral vote goes but he still does anyway. BTW, I'm from Oklahoma, I guess that qualifies as southern...maybe

It's too early to say now. I would not bet the farm on Hill Hill. I still see Bernie as being unelectable. Though I shudder at the thought of Trump or Carson, I think Trump has a real chance... providing we are not all sick and tired of him in another 3 months.

No they wouldn't. They would build them up and then tear them down so Hillary could win. That's the whole point.

I really don't know lol I guess depends on who you ask with where you're from. But sometimes it can be close enough to matter. I pay attention to the polls and see how it's going. It just depends, really. So far I've always voted in the presidential elections. Senate I don't have any real choices lol. Crazy with a D after their name or Crazy with an R after their name.

Your quotes are being funny but no biggie to fix. Just thought you should know.

I do agree with "too early." I'm sure we'll tell after the first couple of primaries. Bernie has been having huge rallies too and not much media attention about it but it doesn't seem to be hurting him. I do agree with Trump which is scary to me. Nah Bernie has been having really big rally turn outs so he has a lot of youth on his side and I've been seeing stories online from people saying they know republican friends and family who are interested in him. Of course goes to how much you believe anonymous posters on the internet though.

Ugh sorry for the double post. I meant to edit the previous one.

But they want to win, that's why they oppose them. A Rubio or Christie might have a chance, expect to see some support for them on Fox building up. (Maybe there already is, thankfully I don't watch US media so don't know)

How much right wing radio have you listened to lately? They LOVE trashing Hillary. It brings in the ratings. Their base loves it. I honestly don't get it myself but for whatever reason over the yrs the right have had their blood out for her. Imagine all the raitings and books and everything they can have with a Hillary presidency. Damn it'd be worse than Big Willy.

LOL.... RF was having a brain fart is my guess, the post looked good in preview and than when posted it buggered up the quoted part. *sigh*

The problem with Bernie resonating with younger voters is that, traditionally speaking, younger voters simply do not get out and vote. People tend to forget that when they see a candidate with high polling numbers.

What I find somewhat mind-numbing is that, though he seems like a really nice guy, I cannot even begin to imagine voting for Ben Carson. I don't understand how people could think he would be a good choice for President.

You are right ,there are plenty of those on both sides of the aisle. Sadly I think our govt. has become more of an aristocracy favoring those in political power and those who give them the big money while leaving us, the people they are supposed to be working for out in the cold. Have you ever looked at the worth of the vast majority of those who are in office both Dem and Republican. My goodness, it is little more than a millionaire / billionaire club. Well, I better stop. That's a little to close to being a rant.o_O

Not seen any US right wing media since my cable stopped carrying Fox a few years ago. Used to be good for a laugh when they had Glenn Beck, but watching some smug c*** like Hannity was just intolerable.

Why don't the Republicans want to win though? Then they would control all 3 executives, and could potentially have to appoint 4 Supreme court judges. It's like their wet dream.

To beat Hillary. They've had a passion of hating her for years. All the right wing media, big and small, would love it. Think of all the books, and media ratings they could get, think about politicians running in the states at all levels and how they can campaign on "beating Hillary." It's their wet dream. I've been keeping up with this off and on since the earlier 2000's. I highly recommend the doc "Hunting of the President" about Bill Clinton. Once you see that maybe it will show where I'm coming from.

Here's a trailer-

Damn yes. I believe Bernie is like 350 or 375 on the ranking of wealth in the Senate. So he's not rich compared to everyone else. And as a southerner too it doesn't help in the politicians who get into the parties.
