The Rise of Muslims and the Unaffiliated and the Decline of Christians

:bssquare:"In the U.S., Christians will decline, from more than three-quarters of the population (78.3 percent) in 2010 to two-thirds (66.4 percent) in 2050. Religious “churn” — people leaving their childhood faith for a different faith or none at all — is the primary driver of change.

:bssquare: The Muslim share of the U.S. population is projected to climb to 2.1 percent, up from less than 1 percent today. Jews will fall from 1.8 percent to 1.4 percent.

:bssquare: In 2010, there were 159 countries with a Christian majority, but that will fall by eight countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. By 2050, Muslims will hold the majority in 51 countries, up by two from 2010, including Nigeria, which just elected a Muslim president, and the Republic of Macedonia.

Looks like Islam is the leading band wagon here.

Isnt it quite possible that there will be a rise of Irreligion in Muslim majority countries by 2050 as it is happening in Christian majority countries now? I dont think that everyone who is raised Muslim will remain Muslim between now and 2050. Did the statisticians take into account that possiblity?

At various times in history there has have been various reasons why some religions may have increased and others decreased...but each religions has it's own issues... There are some issues in common in all the major religions but there are others that are unique..so overall it's hard to predict the outcome. Much of the increase of Muslim population in the US has been due to immigration. What the effects will be on the population of Muslims in the US is difficult to predict... There are also trends in family size that can have an effect. Also each religion has a variety of national groups and each of them also have issues. I think diversity in a country is a healthy thing... I know where I live I can visit a synagogue .. a Sikh temple ... a Mosque within about a half an hour. Diversity I think gives us wider choices and also we are exposed to a variety of views we wouldn't be exposed to otherwise. The Baha'i Faith isn't listed among the US population in the graphic above...as we're probably not that relevant statistically but recently there was a stat that suggested Baha'is in South Carolina have a fairly steady increase...

It is possible, but not particularly likely.

My experience in Brazil suggests that Christianity is on the rise because it gives people hope that they dearly need in a society that is not at all solidary enough.

From that, I assume that largely Muslim communities will not be very likely to have significant numbers of open disbelievers until and unless economic conditions become at least reassuring. And in that regard, the news are if anything even worse.

I don't know. I do know that falling away from islam is punishable by death thus highly discouraged.

There were big changes in the world between 1915 &1950. Its quite possible between 2015 &2050.

Whatever the reasons are I will give you one. it is called curiosity. Yes that one.

You see the westerners made Islam popular among their children by trying to fight them and thus they made the news and the Children are curious what is so wrong about Islam, What drives a Muslim terrorist, what kinda faith is this? And fortunately for me if you study Islam with an open hearth you usually end up in our big happy family, because one of the great things about the truth is it's self evident to people that are seeking it.

Lets take a brief look at history Islam increased in an unimaginable number between 1930-1980 due to migration of Muslims to western countries but right now what makes Islam grow is the Quran itself. Before September 11 Islam was kinda struggling as a religion in the States but now it is really on the rise.

Alhamdulillahi Masha' Allah
