Triumph
FREEDOM OF SPEECH
The first and second temples clearly played a significant role in Jewish life in biblical times.
What was the purpose and role of the temple? Who were the principle figures in the running of the temple complex?
How has the practice of Judaism been affected by the absence of a temple in Jerusalem?
Jesus taught in the temple but was not agreeing with what the Priests taught and that is why the temple priests serving the orders of the High Priest, threatened to kill Jesus.
A building made of stone or wood built by the hands of man was never desired by Jesus as he chose to preach in the open fields and in the homes of people. Jesus never asked for a temple or any kind of a building to be built as a "church" or temple. A church is the people that believe in the same doctrine not any building that might house those people. Peter called his human body a tabernacle because the words of God live in Peter in Holy Spirit.
Should the temple be rebuilt?
To desire the Jewish temple to be rebuilt is to agree a perfect red cow needs to be sacrificed to their Lord God and his holy cow blood splashed in the temple building to cleanse the temple people of "sin" so their Lord God will be there as the Jews believe.
Jesus taught against blood sacrifices, never made one and whipped the temple priests for doing it. The fact the temple priests refused to stop believing in blood sacrifice removes sin and selling animals for sacrifices to remove sin infuriated Jesus. Sin can not be transposed from a guilty life to an innocent life making the innocent suffer a painful and undeserved death so the guilty can say they are innocent, without sin. Everyone is responsible for their own sins/crimes and must be water baptized to have those sins removed achieving spiritual atonement.
Jesus taught his flesh and blood are Words, doctrine, conversation understanding truth and Jesus commanded people believe in water baptism for sin removal. Believing that is drinking his blood and eating his flesh because it is understanding his merciful doctrine so no lamb/ cow/ human is slaughtered to a God that forsakes blood sacrifices and does not want them. Loving God with desire to treat people with mercy and kindness like beloved family is more than all blood sacrifices any person has ever made.
Those people believing in blood sacrifice to a God are dying in their sins according to Jesus.
The priests that believed in blood sacrifices were called "vipers" by Jesus. When the temple priests came to see Jesus be water baptized, they had no intention of being baptized themselves and Jesus knew it.
Matthew 23:33
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?"
Those that believe in water baptism for sin removal will escape damnation of hell.
Do Christians believe that there is no longer a need for a physical temple in Jerusalem?
Jesus with prophecy said no building will be left standing in Jerusalem, so why build a temple that will be destroyed in a world war? God is not going to protect any "building = temple" according to Jesus.
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Without belief in water baptism forsaking blood sacrifices, and knowing Jesus is the Christ, Son of God , then there is no Holy Ghost/Spirit approval of God, within a temple or the people that comprise it.
