The Soul

The Gospel of Thomas
saying 3:
When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father.
But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty."
My soul is a child of the living father according to this.

At Genesis 2:7
The Wycliffe Commentary writes:
“Man's body was fashioned from the dust of the ground, while his spirit came from the very ‘breath’ of God. He is literally a creature of two worlds; both earth and heaven can claim him”

We are an holographic image of our soul.
Our soul is an holographic image of God.

A hologram contains all that the original contains.

Genesis says that the body God made from the earth became a living soul. The same word is also translated as beast, animal, or creature. Man IS a soul. He does not HAVE a soul.Man has a spirit which animals do not but the soul is just the body that God made and breathed life into.

How can a temporal being contain an infinite soul?

Where does it say a soul is infinite? As stated before the Bible shows that the word "soul" also means animal or creature. It is not infinite or imortal. Maybe the spirit is but not the soul. This is a false idea spread by false religions.

It is a Christian belief as well of many other religions that the soul does not die.
The concept of heaven and hell are foolishness otherwise.

It is not a case of majority rules. It does not matter how many denominations believe something. That does not make it true. The Bible says "the souls that sins shall die." Can you quote something that says the soul is immortal?

All of those verses have been removed.

Here is one of them.
Job ii. 9:
"And I am a wanderer, changing place after place and house after house."
Fragments of a Faith Forgotten: The Gnosis According to its Foes: The Docetæ

This is an excerpt from the Jewish Encyclopedia that quotes a piece from the Zohar.

This is the theory of the Zohar, which says: "All souls are subject to transmigration; and men do not know the ways of the Holy One, blessed be He! They do not know that they are brought before the tribunal both before they enter into this world and after they leave it; they are ignorant of the many transmigrations and secret probations which they have to undergo, and of the number of souls and spirits which enter into this world and which do not return to the palace of the Heavenly King. Men do not know how the souls revolve like a stone which is thrown from a sling. But the time is at hand when these mysteries will be disclosed" (Zohar, ii. 99b).

Something about "I am a wanderer" does make me think of immortal souls. And saying verses that dispute the state of the soul have been removed sounds like a cop out.

Look it up for yourself then.
In 553 the Emperor Justinian had the concept of the immortal soul banned and all of the verses that eluded to it removed.

Only if you believe in the Bible. People are free to believe whatever they want t believe. But Christians say they believe in the Bible and yet believe things that are not in the Bible.

I used to believe in a soul as something static, but I think not anymore, it's not really desirable to me, I always picture it like being buried alive or something lol, staticness is not good
