The Story of Jesus

SpiritQuest

The Immortal Man
Jesus was crucified at Golgotha (the place of the skull).

The story of Jesus is symbolic, it is the story of enlightenment. It is an inner journey without distance.

Hello Rival, nice to meet you. In the Gospel of Thomas, Jesus says that if you search the sky for the kingdom of heaven then the birds will be there before you. If you search the sea then the fish will be there before you. The search for the kingdom of heaven( enlightenment ) is an inner search.

Yes I agree, the whole story is metaphorical, but so many need to cling to the story being literal, and hence we have so much fighting over who's story is more literal that the other. Yes many need to go from the milk to the meat, they need to mature spiritually and become that which the story points to, for the letter killith.

Well some of it is claimed to be symbolic, even in the scriptures themselves.
But there are so many facets, some of which are said to be symbolic, others literal.
Are you saying that even the crucifixion was symbolic?

Hello psychoslice, nice to meet you. It took me several years to see the truth of what you are saying.

Which story (which books)?

In the Bible there are the books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. There is also the Gospel of Thomas. There are several allegorical writings about Jesus discovered at Nag Hammadi Egypt.

Stories like the Garden of Eden and Noah's Ark in the Bible are allegorical and not meant to be read literally. Perhaps some of the stories have a basis in historical facts. Reading the Bible literally leads to contradictions. Was Jesus crucified in actual history? He probably was but that is not what is important for me.
