It seems the US is in fear of losing something to fear - again. With ISIS and the threat of terrorism gone, the US's retreat from Afghanistan, how is Congress to justify increasing the DoD budget next year? UFO's UAP have been a good excuse ever since they were invented in the 50's - until they find a real Bogeyman to fear.

Nah, Putin is still best buddies with Trump and the Chinese are producing everything but blockbuster movies and fortune cookies. How can they be a threat? (Aside from Putin getting his arse kicked by Ukraine.)
Aliens are so much more creative. They allow for new inventive methods to burn money as the threat is diffuse enough to imagine anything. It has worked in the past and there is no need for second thoughts about it once a real threat emerges. You can just forget about them like you did a few times already.

It seems "UFO" is now passé. Now, they're using "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena" or "UAP."



Congress is getting impatient and believes that the DoD might be trying to cover this up.



It doesn't appear they're worried about extraterrestrials, but that there are unidentified aircraft in U.S. airspace, and the DoD doesn't seem to know what it is. Moreover, they don't even appear to care or take it that seriously. The allegation is that the DoD has lost control of U.S. airspace, and it appears to be an urgent national security issue.











What do you think about this? Should Congress tell the Defense Department to get off the stick and find out what the heck is going on?

There are no reports of aircraft. That's why these have been renamed UAPs, viz. aerial phenomena, rather than assuming they are actual objects.

This whole business strikes me as symptomatic of the current collective nervous breakdown of the US, in the form of its weakening grip on reality and its increasing paranoia. They need to get some psychologists on the team, in my opinion.

If ever we could colonize another planet. Occasionally, I see some discussions talking about the possibility of moon base, but that generally goes nowhere. Nobody wants to spend the money on it.

Well, they don't necessarily have to track each and every object in the sky, but I would hope that they'd at least be able to identify enemy bombers or missiles entering our airspace. If they can't even do that anymore, then Congress may have good cause to be concerned.

Not just Congress. Me, but I haven't thought it through. Once USA gets this tech other countries will, too. Everyone will start to track everything in the air. That could be good, but it could also be bad.
