The value of life?

Heneni

Well Heneni, the bigger point here is many and I are wondering what a little boy did in thailand that is being used for sex until he dies. What did he sew, to reap such a reward? Is he paying for something his mom or dad did? or some other distant relative? Is that how God works?

That is where most people have a valid problem with the God of the bible. I feel I am en excellent student of the bible, and belive in God, but I want to address these issues with honesty, and it doesn't get more honest and real than thinking of that child being used as such.
Which is why the thread is titled as such... So the point we are all at in this thread, is how can God be good and watch this happen...

Ah i see, so you say that people feel god is to blame for a boy who is used as a sex toy all his life, because he did not stop it. I am in the minority, but i dont believe that we live once and thats that. I believe that the reaping and sowing is something that continues for many different lifetimes. So in the end everybody DOES get what they deserve.

The only place to get mercy and grace is from god, who breaks the cycle of bad karma.

Anyway...i wish you all the best in explaining why god is not a monster. LOL...you have your work cut out for you:D

Let me review this thread:
1)Life's value to some, is how cute something is.
2)Life's value is determined by our need to survive
3)Life's value depends on evoutionary instincts we posses
4)Life's value is determined by an individuals'a emotional choice or connection with the life in question
5)Life's value is only important as far as reproduction is concerned.

I would have to choose number 5. I think and agree that life's value is only important after our need to reproduce. This is a gerat way to explain why God has allowed many to die and feel pain. If God has chosen a group for himself as the bible clearly states, that he has a chosen people, then it makes perfect sense that he protects his own, and doesn't worry about the rest.
Meaning all humans are the same but, only a few of them are God's chosen, so in the act of reproduction and perserving his family, everyone else is disposable.
That's me:beach:
But just to be clear, I didn't say life's value had anything to do with reproduction (although the act is certainly a valuable part of it;)). I said that selection works on the level of reproductive success. Life's value is what we make it.

i think either all life has to have equal value, or no life has value. i tend towards the latter. im speaking in grand universal meanings. i dont think the death of a person has anymore effect than the death of a bug, or the life, tho a human life can effect the earth (destroy it). that dosent mean we dont apply value to the lives around us. i value my gf, my cat, my brother, ect. but every time you here about someone somewhere dying of something, does that life have as much value to you as your family? no
