The vatican Surrenders to china

Link: The Vatican Surrenders to China

From the Article:

"Before anyone had heard of COVID-19, however, there was mounting concern about the intentions and brutality of the Chinese communist regime," wrote George Weigel, the distinguished US Catholic commentator.

"... about its herding Uighurs into concentration camps; about its assaults on religious communities, including the defacing and demolition of Catholic churches after the accord with the Holy See was signed; about its aggressive military moves in the South China Sea; about its creation of an Orwellian internal security apparatus through facial-recognition technology; about its ranking the Chinese citizenry according to their political reliability (meaning their acquiescence to what the Chinese Communist Party dictates); about its international espionage, often conducted behind the cover of putatively independent technology companies like Huawei; about its relentless digital attacks on Taiwan; and about the global Chinese 'Belt-and-Road' initiative, which financially shackles Third World countries to the Beijing regime."
Despite this grisly record, in 2018 the Vatican signed a pact with China. The pact was intended to resolve the historic division between China's "underground church", in which bishops were approved by Rome but rejected by Beijing, and China's "official" bishops not recognized by the Vatican. The first group represents the real Chinese Church, the second is a puppet of the Chinese Communist Party. The Catholic Church signed the pact to reconcile and to "normalise" the status of the Catholic Church in China. The risk, of course, is that the Vatican has become a "mouthpiece" for Beijing.

My Commentary:

I am not a catholic and in fact I don't have a very high opinion of the catholic church. Moreover I am socially liberal and I have some socialist/Marxist belief's when it comes to society and economics. Nonetheless I think it's very important to recognize that evil, totalitarian, genocidal china is a threat to the whole civilized world.

Recently, I reflected on the evil CCP's actions and their profound consequences, both intended and unintended. Their deceptive tactics and oppressive methods deserve scrutiny. Despite claiming to bring peace, they are a cult of violence and deceit, and they resort to scapegoating and demonization. The genocidal, totalitarian CCP's foundation is built on lies and manipulation, hiding essential truths from the public.

Let's confront the terrorist CCP's injustices with courage and build a future based on respect and understanding. By exposing their abuses and standing for universal values, we can pave the way for a just and equitable world.

china is nether communist nor capitalist in western terms.
If anything it is socialism with Chinese characteristics.
It can also be seen a political system based on meritocracy. Where party members rise through its levels through their ability to achieve beneficial results in prior positions.
It is has similarities to western political systems, with a civil service and elected political leadership but retains many historical similarities from its past. It is unlikely to ever mirror western governmental systems.

The effectiveness of that system is witnessed by the unprecedented speed of their progress in the past thirty years, into probably the most advanced industrial power in the world, with far and away the most advanced infrastructure.

The people in china live in a safe and secure country barely toughed by war.
There is no doubt at all that it has one of the most advanced educational and health services in the world.
While it's people enjoy a very high standard of living with remarkably little crime with even lower firearms incidents, it has a strick control over dissidents.
This was demonstrated in their rapid response to the Uyghur terrorist uprising which was nothing like the genocide described in the western press.
china has in fact spent billions on infrastructure in that autonomous region to raise the living standards of its people's. Including the building of mosques.

America fears China not because of its link to its communist past, but because of its advanced technology, advanced manufacturing. Near monopoly of the processing of many vital raw materials.
And its world leading transport and communication infrastructure. That covers not only China but much of the world.
It has achieved all this whilst America is wallowing in debt increasing by one Trillion dollars every one hundred days. With a dollar bond debt that no one wants to, any longer, support, and defaulting and crumbling cities and infrastructure that are beyond saving.

Your source seems questionable: Gatestone Institute - Bias and Credibility

I understand why that might be concerning to you but we have to realize that a source might be very good when it comes to one topic while being bad when it comes to others. Or that credibility can change and fluctuate over time. Having lived in China I can say that what they are saying is very accurate and true when it comes to criticizing the CCP.

I feel bad for the Chinese Catholics who stayed loyal to Rome and endured persecution for their faith only for Rome to sell them out to the CCP. An utter betrayal.

People get too overly obsessed with sources and just because somebody doesn't like someone elses source , doesn't mean it's not true. I'll never let people dictate what source I use and neither should you which of course is the case.

Clearly China is a very closed totalitarian society, so information can be sketchy but I see no problem taking things as true on a provisional basis at the moment.

It certainly believable though, that's for certain.

It's hard to put that sort of feeling into words but selling them out to the Chinese Communist Party? It's just about the worst feeling for them I can imagine.

I understand the Vatican's desire to normalize the situation in China, but the CCP is a thuggish cult led by megalomaniacal Marxist ideologue. The Vatican is delusional to expect good faith from the CCP.

There's no question on that point. Problem is people are allowing this regime to get more dangerous by each passing decade where the Chinese Communist party needs to proactively go like the old Soviet USSR did.

A single party system with purges is a meritocracy? I'm putting that on my resume. That is some great writing.

Trash talking USA is part of Asia-Pacific politics I see. Free press when it comes to that.

My life in China gives me far more freedom

has.

And China's aggressive conquest, eg, Tibet, S China Sea, Taiwan.
You think China will stop with only those?

Just like America controls it's home waters so does China contro it's, as it has done for centuries past. In fact far longer than THE USA has even existed. America has more bases and forces in the south china sea area than China has.
What would America think if China built equivalent bases close to America.

Taiwan, Tibet are historically part of China and they, and lands taken by Russia, India and Japan will also be restored in good time.
unlike The USA China has not started any wars in modern times. But is undoubtedly prepared to defend it's territory.
