These are pretty good. I added finely snipped dulse seaweed to the black rice while it was cooking for the heme taste. It was difficult to keep the first two burgers from falling apart in a frying pan, so I'll try baking the rest of the mash in the oven.We discovered black sticky (glutinous) rice and pinto beans make an interesting kind of chewy burger. About 2/3 rice, 1/3 bean. Was going to be black bean but we didn't have any so subbed pinto beans. Spices to taste salsa on top, with besan 'bread', pita, regular bread, or roti.
Sorry, I forgot to mention ours were baked. The thing I really appreciate about home made burgers is that you're in charge of the flavour completely. With any pre-prepared stuff, somebody else decides. These are pretty good. I added finely snipped dulse seaweed to the black rice while it was cooking for the heme taste. Thanks. The baked ones kept their shape. (It's not like the pan-fried ones fell apart, the glutinous rice held them together. They just didn't hold their shape.)Sorry, I forgot to mention ours were baked. The thing I really appreciate about home made burgers is that you're in charge of the flavour completely. Has anyone here ever tried veggie meatloaf? Mom made it once, it was so good. I wish I remembered the recipe. I'll have to ask her.
