The War on Christmas

Second, no one actually finds "Merry Christmas" offensive, at least not in any substantial numbers.
I have many years of retail experience and I disagree.
Most people like it well enough, but the ones who get difficult are a big problem. Some are even Christian SJWs who will get offended on behalf of others. For big retailers depending on barely trained help "Merry Christmas" is a seriously losing proposition.
I like my little store because I know so many of my customers. I know who it's a good idea to say what to. One of my regulars is a Jewish woman named Joan. She and I always get a giggle out of wishing each other (the jew and the atheist) huge Merry Christmases. :)

A few years back on Christmas Eve, I had to go to a walk-in medical clinic for some kind of emergency I had. So the doctor I got was a very wonderful Muslim woman. When we were all finished up and we were chatting a bit before I got up to leave, without actually thinking, I just blurted out "Merry Christmas!" and then immediately started freaking out in my head thinking maybe I just said something completely offensive and what a dolt I am, etc. (I'm a bit of a worrier). Guess what she said back to me ...

"Merry Christmas!"

And all was fine in the world. We all need to calm down and relax.

War on Christmas?

Nah. Santa is alive and well. And no conflicts at the North Pole. We're all good.

If there is a war on Christmas it's not going well for whoever's fighting it. Christmas music started the day after Halloween where I lived!

Tell me where to sign up to help the side against Christmas, I'm already tired of the festivities and annoying tunes and decorations and consumerized culture!

To me, this is the point.
Not what you call the late December festival, or expecting Nativity scenes to be financed by private individuals on private property. It's the pressure to buy and conform and other unfestive things that is the war on Christmas.
It's more like a war on simply enjoying a break from the routine by partying with your friends and family, and indulging in irrational charity towards people you don't even know. Christmas should be a celebration of "random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty". Who cares what theological beliefs you hold or what you call the event?

The only war is the war against the true reason for the season! I bring ye', Carol of the Old Ones;
