Sorry, I have a tendency to be crude when others lie to mislead people...Plus, who ever said I didn't speak my mind?? I wasn't insulting any one here, I was referring to Kirk and the other guy...

This was what I was worried about. People may not be aware that we have fans of the site here on our forums. Sometimes, people also forget that this is a 'general discussion' area, so debate isn't allowed.

Are you serious...I listen to about the first 45 seconds of it and none of what they said about evolution was true. Sounded like they were telling the creationist point of view and saying it was evolution. In evolutionary theory it did not start from nothing, nor did it go poof here is the earth, poof here are the animals...Thats the creationist point of view...
Ah, I see what you're saying...

Good point...

I think they were just referring to the "Big Bang" theory at that point in the video...which seems to be so popular among the masses, which seems to be based on the extensive interviews they've done with so many people on the street......

It can be a hard habit to get into, I know. The easiest way is to look at the top of the page that you're reading a thread in. It should have the subforum that it's placed in listed.

That would help, I try to look before posting but it really isn't clear at times...

Wands and athanes are good, but there's nothing quite like the threat of being whapped over the head with a broom to help move people along!

Thanks.

They aren't purposefully 'misleading' people; neither do they believe they are lying. This is what they believe, how is this physically or emotionally hurting anyone?

I believe that they know very well they are using dishonest persuasion tactics to get people on their side. No one interviews young people on the street about science and tries to trip them up on details, when it would be so much better to speak with college professors and scientists who work in that field. They may be honest about being Creationists, but they are dishonest in their tactics to persuade others.

Wonderful site! They also have a television show every week. They teach Christians how to show folks they need Christ, by showing them that we all have sinned and cannot be in God's Holy presence in the state we are in. They do that by going through the 10 Commandments, I myself have broken every one of them in some way or another. Once we see our sinful condition, our need for the Saviour, then they show us how He paid for our sins, and gives us His righteousness in place of our own, totally for free, too! THAT'S love! And as for the creationism teachings, hey, if you can't believe Jesus walked on the water, multiplied the loaves and fishes, and healed the sick, lame, blind, etc. then of course you will have a hard time with creationism. Actually its harder for me to believe in evolution, takes more faith to believe that nonsense, but to each his own. Great site, go Kirk!

Amusingly they approach people with the 10 commandments and basically say that if they have ever lied or lusted after somebody they are horrible filthy people. It's doesn't really work though if you aren't a Christian, who do they think they are saying that the 10 commandments are the universal measure of goodness? Grrr.

Hey, that is exactly what the book of Romans says. The commandments were given to us 'as a schoolmaster' to bring us to Christ, they made us to truly know sin. Paul even said He kept the law, except when he got to 'thou shalt not covet', he saw he was a sinner. He did not do certain things, but he WANTED to do them. And they are universal, they have been written in men's hearts, most decent people all over the world are against murder, rape, lying, stealing, adultery. They are doing exactly what the book of Romans, written by the apostle Paul teaches. We must first recognize that we not only sin, but were born with a sinful nature, its our nature to sin. God is perfectly Holy and nothing 'unclean', that is with ANY sin can exist in His presence, they would be consumed. But God loves us so much that He had Jesus pay for all our sins so we would not have to, and He gave us Jesus' righteousness to us in place of our own so we may be with Him forever.

I find it very puzzling why anybody would consider lust a sin. It is the most natural feeling imaginable. You are attracted somebody, you pupils enlarge (among other things), there is nothing you can do about it. But really, is it that bad?

I am against murder, rape etc, but isn't calling lust adultery a bit over the top? I think that going out onto the streets and telling people how horrible they are is thoroughly disgusting. There was a video on the site with Ray interviewing a perfectly nice girl on a plane. It was simply awful.

Jesus considered it a sin. What is human nature to us, as we have a sinful nature, can be a sin to God. Now, what Jesus was saying too, is that NOBODY is sinless, it is impossible having been born with a sinful nature. It is the essence of the Law, just like John says if you hate your brother without cause, it is the same as murder to God, who is perfect. It is the essence. The Law shows us that we are sinners, it leads us to our Saviour, who paid the penalty of sin for all, which is death. By one man, Adam, sin came into the world and was passed down to all men, and by one man, born of the seed of a woman, conceived of the Holy Spirit, not a man, the sin debt was paid in full, all we have to do is believe in Him, that His death was sufficient, that God was as Isaiah says, 'satisfied', as in satisfied with the payment, it was enough to pay for all the sins of all the world, ever. The moment we trust in Christ, our sins are considered paid in full, we do not have to ever suffer for any sin we ever have, or will commit, (although their are consequences-pain, suffering in this world and loss of reward in the next), and we have Christ's righteousness imputed unto us, in place of our own.

Those guys are serious. If you want to see something fake, go to www.landoverbaptist.com. That site is downright scary if you don't know its fake.

I made the mistake of taking that landover site seriously and sent them an email refuting nearly everything they posted.
