I actually quite like Cyberpunk 2077.


I still need to go back and see how things have improved, never actually finished the game. Went full bore hacking to the point that I could clear places out via cameras and just set people on fire and cause them to attack each other. It never really got old, so in that respect I liked the game a lot too.

However, the lack of immersion started getting to me. The city was pretty dead where pre-planned events weren't happening. I was disappointed that I couldn't really do anything interesting with Judy at the end of the romance arc (no radiant-style quests, no silly little immersive things, nothing). I constantly felt like the game was on the verge of greatness. I remember feeling a sense of awe at the character interactions... when there was a cutscene.

If they'd have just spent more time on emergent immersion, it'd be a masterpiece.
