Acceptance -- Woolshed Sessions

All the fighting that promised to define me
I've forgotten you
I've forgotten you
The youth is fugitive, and all is nervousness
I've forgotten you
I've forgotten you

ooooh ooooh oooh (silly folk songs lol)
oooooooooooooh ooooh
I've forgotten you

All the dead ends - begging me to follow
I've forgotten you
I've forgotten you
The rinsed out neighborhood,
Where a community once stood
I've forgotten you
I've forgotten you

All the leaving left to me
All the risen peace believe
That when rising in the trees I was once you
All the roaming round the world
All the lies I wish I told
All the truth I heard, and wished I never had

Losing touch with everyone
The days, the role to be someone
She's breathing her last breath and I'm stuck in traffic
Miss the start and miss the end
But we'll always be best friends
Even if I only see her every now and then

Yeah the sun is shining down
Yeah shining down on me
I'm gonna stay here and let my days turn into years
For the winds have turned around
And the winter's broken down
and all the songbirds can see their colors changing
they've been waiting
they've been waiting
For someone to come and tell them that they're free
they've been waiting for a change
waiting for a change
and lo, I've found the change in me!

I've met this girl she puts it on
puts it out and turns it on
Then she thinks she has you down - but I didn't stick around
I could have fallen in love again
I could have fallen in love again
But I think I've fallen in love too many times now
It's just a game we play she said
and you wondered what she meant
wondered whether he could see himself that way

yeah the wheel is grinding slow
and there's less I want to know
So I'm happy just to leave her with what she's thinkin'

For the oaks they make the sound of a river
they shake their leaves just like the sound of a running river
And our friends down in the south
Ya just call and they'll help you out
there's always time if you can find a way to take it

so in the cold city halls and shopping centers
in the dusty old colonial houses
and the clutter that she fall
the exhaust of daily slough
there's a light that we might find a way to follow

there's a different way to live
there's a different way to live
you don't have to be a rat in a running wheel
there's a different way to be
come and spend some time with me!
you can accept, before you're left, or forgotten!

Mrs. Robinson by Simon & Garfunkel

We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you, all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Whoa, whoa, whoa
G-d bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey

Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
In your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret, it's just a Robinsons affair
Most of all, you've got to hide it from the kids

Kookookachoo, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Whoa, whoa, whoa
G-d bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates' debate, yeah
Laugh about it, shout about it, when you've got to choose
Every way you look at it you lose

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you
Ooh, ooh, ooh
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson?
Jumping Joe has left and gone away
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey hey

"Where Do We Go From Here" - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here?
The battle's done, and we kinda won
So we sound our victory cheer
Where do we go from here?

Why is the path unclear
When we know home is near?
Understand we'll go hand in hand
But we'll walk alone in fear
(Tell me) Where do we go from here?

When does the end appear?
When do the trumpets cheer?
The curtains close on a kiss G-d knows
We can tell the end is near
Where do we go from here?

Oh, I loved the "Once More With Feeling" episode. Of course, the Giles/Willow harmony on "Stay" is heartbreaking.

"We Close Our Eyes" -Oingo Boingo

We close our eyes
We close our eyes and dream and the world has turned around again

When everybody is running in the big race
And having a good time
Who am I to cast a shadow
Who am I?
I looked Death in the face last night
I saw him in a mirror
And he simply smiled
He told me not to worry
He told me just to take my time

Chorus:
We close our eyes and the world has turned around again
We close our eyes and dream and another year has come and gone
We close our eyes and the world has turned around again
We close our eyes and dream ...

And if you come to me
And if you touch my hand
I might just slip away
I might just disappear
Who am I?
And if you think I'm worth it
And if you think it's not too late
We might start falling
If we don't try to hard
We might start falling in love

(Chorus)

We're on the healing path
We're on a roller coaster ride
That could never turn back
And if you love me
And if you really try
To make the seconds count
Then we can close our eyes

(chorus)

We close our eyes and the world has turned around again

It's really the melody that gets you in the songs. Whedon's lyrics are admittedly lazy at times.

Oh, I loved the "Once More With Feeling" episode. Of course, the Giles/Willow harmony on "Stay" is heartbreaking.

Actually, that was Giles/Tara. Alyson Hannigan refused to have any significant musical part because she could not sing on tune (her few lines in the episode do show this), so theplaceholder song meant to be Willow's solo was rewritten and given to Amber Benson (Tara), which actually worked out much better.

Sorry, just have these facts floating around in the head :)

anyway

"The Forgotten People" - Ted Pearce

Six million people cry from the grave
Invisible people, calling out their names
Beautiful people, taken from their homes
Scattered people, nowhere to go

And the mothers and fathers and sons and daughters
They were carried away in trains
Their bodies were beaten and broken and burned
And their ashes fell down like rain
They were branded with a number and a yellow star
And paraded around in chains
They called it a crime to be born a Jew
And in the name of G-d, they were slain

Blessed people, they tried to help
While evil people, schemed among themselves
Everyday people, who ignored the news
Indifferent people, sitting in the pews

And the mothers and fathers and sons and daughters
They were carried away in trains
Their bodies were beaten and broken and burned
And their ashes fell down like rain
They were branded with a number and a yellow star
And paraded around in chains
They called it a crime to be born a Jew
And in the name of G-d, they were slain

The forgotten people,
Calling out, calling out, calling out
Six million people
Crying out, crying out
The forgotten people
Calling out, calling out, calling out
The chosen people
Crying out, crying out

It's time to wake up from the pleasant sleep
Time to see our nakedness and begin to weep
Sound the alarm, shouting "Never again!"
Let the righteous revolution begin
History must never repeat itself
So lift your voices and take a stand

United as one for Zion's sake
Undivided as the nations rage
We've got to rise like an army in the name
Of the nation that was born in a day

The forgotten people,
Calling out, calling out, calling out
Six million people
Crying out, crying out
The forgotten people
Calling out, calling out, calling out
The chosen people
Crying out, crying out

Can you hear them calling out again?
