I'm too polite to laugh at the contemporary bands ya just mentioned... Used to listen to KoRn... back when I was 16.

Led Zepp are all Brit... Hendrix was a Yank but his band were all Brits.... Poison... well they're just plain crap

Korn has one pretty good (the first, but still not great or anything) album, a couple of mediocre albums, and the rest of them kind of sucks (I used to listen to them when I was 15, still have 4 of their albums). Godsmack is kind of lame imo, unoriginal and too simple. I don't like Evanescence either, simple song structures etc... Metallica used to be awesome ( Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets, ...And Justice For All) but now they suck. I don't know Ministry.

Now as for one of my favorite current favorite modern American metal band: Nevermore. Go buy "This Godless Endeavour" it rips from start to finish, and if you're afraid of growled vocals don't worry it's all clean, but they do have heavy riffs and incredible solos.

I don't know the technical name for the genre, but it's the same genre as NIN, but Ministry came years before, and is much better.
