OK they're good. Certainly one of the best in their genre, but you have to remember black metal = Pop in Sweden Finland and Norway, and you can hear a lot of pop influences in there ;)

Not that'll stop me listening to masterpieces like

Opeth - Moonlapse Vertigo (and omg the track names ;) )

Where do you hear pop influences? The only thing I would notice is a few of the vocals in Ghost Of Perdition, but given that this pop influence is merely an influence in an otherwise extremely progressive song, I don't really mind that. I also love the part where he does the high chants, and the look on his face when he does it live is hilarious :D . I wonder if the same thing will ever happen to europe, extreme metal becoming popular. Maybe if the earths axis shifts and it becomes all cold, dark and snowy here :biglaugh: .
The strange thing about Opeth is that at some times, I just don't feel like listening to anything else because it all seems inferior to Opeth. It's hard to describe, but there's no music that can move me like they can, and only when I have gotten bored of listening to their albums repeteadly for hundreds of time I start reaching for different bands. The only thing that comes close are some Emperor songs, a few Tool songs and maybe a little earlier Katatonia.

Grand Magus - Kingslayer

Opethian, I hear pop influences in nearly every kind of music. The definition of pop when you listen to crazy stuff that most people wouldn't call music tends to shift ;) More in the riff structures and rhythms. The drummers not crazy enough for me. :D
