Trump is a nutcase. Theresa May is little better. Brexit is closing fast. Le Pen might get elected in France. Is it time to emigrate to Antarctica?

The world is being taken over by fruitcakes. What's an appropriate response?"
Luis, I couldn't agree more. Nationalism is a cancer. The way I see it, sooner or later a firm and wide denunciation of the evils of nationalism will have to happen, despite so many people being set to avoid such a realization.
If we are lucky, it will not be preceded by something far more traumatic. But the repudiation of nationalism proper is unavoidable and very necessary.
A fork?
We've been ruled by crazies all along...Nixon, Rob Ford, Johnson, Clinton.Trump is a nutcase. Theresa May is little better. Brexit is closing fast. Le Pen might get elected in France. Is it time to emigrate to Antarctica?
Hell no.

I'd say go talk to some German Jews who remember the 30s and 40s, but we're running out of them. Instead, how about some Bosniaks & Albanians who lived through the 90s?What is your concern with nationalism?
This is what is causing the supposed crisis you see.The way I see it, sooner or later a firm and wide denunciation of the evils of nationalism will have to happen

What we need is a firm and wide recognition of the good and bad in both nationalism and globalism so we can have a real discussion about where to draw from both.
You forgot Obama. We've been ruled by crazies all along...Nixon, Rob Ford, Johnson, Clinton.
But as times change, the flavor of crazy changes with it.
So I don't worry about the latest batch...but I watch with usual concern.
I don't think of him as crazy....just lacking good judgement in economics, race relations, & ending fruitless wars. You forgot Obama.
Nationalism is, by definition even, the decision to lend prestige and significance to entirely artificial divisions at the expense of real, significant issues.
It is also the enabler of various forms of destructive hatred and discrimination.
Certainly. It turns out, though, that nationalism is at a serious disadvantage from the get go. The globe exists and has inherent significance for humanity. Nations are entirely political constructs which deserve no particular loyalty.
Hardly. This is one of those situations where the so-called options are inherently very assymetric.Couldn't you say almost the same thing about blind Globalism?
