The Zimmerman Trial

Possibly, but not necessarily. TM was walking leisurely, not running, in the rain in the dark. The crime in the area had spiked recently, and the majority of the crimes were being committed by blacks, so it probably piqued his interest, true, but not necessarily in any racist manner. Supposedly, the 911 calls GZ placed prior showed that he didn't mention race unless he was asked about it.

You have a source for the claim that crime in that area peaked and the majority of crimes were being committed by blacks? Thanks.

The lady said she doesn't think "cracker" is a racial term.

Of course it is -.-

"cracker" was explained tonight on CNN. Don Lemon's show. A "cracker" was the person who whipped slaves. The whip makes a "crack" sound. The whipper was whoever the slave master used to whip the slaves. Sometimes white men sometimes black men.

Ya but black guys say it to us in an offensive kind of way. I've been called that a lot, along with some other foul words following.

If I was to say the n word, and only refer it to the poor and uneducated blacks, CNN would have me on in a heartbeat and start playing the race card, but when a black person calls a white person a cracker, it's somehow justified?

It's a double standard. Either that, or our society holds blacks to a lower standard, so they're allowed to say it, but heaven forbid the intellectual and evolved white man so much as dares to say anything...

And Zimmerman isn't even white, so that's the funniest part.

All that was discussed on the show.

I can't remember where I specifically read it, but Sanford has a higher crime rate than even the average Florida crime rate, which is already very high. Supposedly, residents were concerned about the increase in crime. It was an article, not really a website or anything like that. Sorry.

Reasonable doubt is all well and good unless and until it threatens to trump our strongly held opinions. I hope the jurists rise to the occasion.

Heaven forbid we ever let lack of evidence assail our incontestable opinions, eh.
I found serving on a jury shocking...so many wanted to convict the guy when there was no good evidence.

Now....don't take this too much the wrong way...it's a joke about what I really saw.
Advice:
If you're accused of a crime, here are some don'ts:
- Don't be black.
- Don't be male.
- Don't wear an orange prison jumpsuit at your trial.
- Don't sport an unconventional haircut.
- Don't have easily frightened ditzy white gals on your jury.

Here are some dos if you're innocent....or at least not guilty:
- Have a cranky suspicious-of-government engineer on the jury.

I warned you that it wouldn't be pretty.
Courtrooms are dangerous places.
Justice is a crap shoot.
(I got to say "crap"...hah!)

Dr. Vincent Di Maio appears to be systematically destroying the prosecution.
I don't think the defense had to work too hard. The prosecution's case is incredibly weak. The evidence I've seen presented (in my limited watching) was irrelevant to the accused's guilt regarding the charged crime. But it's to be expected since the case was about political demands.

I've been watching the trial for three days. The Lawyers and witnesses seem sure of what they saw.
On a side note in another forum a poster wanted to know if or when the DNA evidence would come in. From what I read Treyvon Martin didn't have any of George Zimmerman's DNA on or under his fingernails. So how could be beat his head into the sidewalk?
Do you have reason to believe that beating someone's head into the sidewalk is impossible without having that person's DNA on or under one's fingernails?

I'm surprised no thread has broached this subject yet. I've nothing to add, since there's as little
real evidence now as there was so many months ago when we last discussed it.
So, what's your impression of the trial, the lawyers, & the witnesses, particularly Ms Jeantel?

It's strange how the legal process is so tedious.

Martin didn't get a trial. He was subject to whatever was going on in Z's head when he was slaughtered.

A legal team did not nitpick through every admissible and inadmissible piece of evidence, sequester a jury, etc.

Zimmerman said Martin had both hands on his face, one covering his mouth one covering his nose after he was punched in the nose beating his head on the sidewalk. No Zimmerman DNA found on Martin's hands or under fingernails.

Zimmerman had a bloody nose from being punched yet no Zimmerman DNA on Martin's hands.
