It's not ghoulish. It's hard reality that the the living things of this Earth could all breathe easier if there were fewer of us. We are a very greedy and destructive species, and it's not fair to other species that they be destroyed for our benefit. Just as it is not fair that those in repressed nations are exploited so that America may live cheap while pigging and egregious amount of global resources all to itself.
