Well there is why you are being fooled becuase when it comes to evolution and billions of years, they abandon the scientific method.
As to the Bible, it is easily shown to be the word of God, where the writers were inspired by God,
So Genesis 1 is true and it is easy to calculate the age of the earth from the genealogies in Gen 5 & 11 plus some other facts.
