Just be mindful about the local laws regarding slim jims.
In some places it is illegal to have one in your possession off your own property.
That is an important point to know.

I'm pretty sure I purchased it from Walmart. In any event, it is legal for private ownership where I am. And I don't travel with it, since locking myself out of the car would lock me away from the Slim Jim too. It occurred to me to get another to keep in the car. However, in the years since purchasing it, cars have become more difficult for someone with my meager skill to make effective use of it. It turns out to be useful for occasional off-label use around the house.

I have found that using jigglers work much faster and easier than a slim jim on the newer vehicles.
Provided you can find the keyhole...

They are now being hidden to make the vehicle look better.
