Things I Learned on RF Today

Americans are okay with killing animals for food as long as they are not cute or beautiful ones such as ducks and geese. :p
I'm not touching that thread with a ten foot pole, but I had the same thoughts.

In Vodou, a chicken or goat may be sacrificed. And then consumed. People consume these animals all the time. And honestly, the sacrificed animal probably had a better life than one born on a commercial farm.

I cannot fathom someone involved in this religion sacrificing a dog. Dogs are sacred to Papa Legba, a lwa anyone involved in Vodou is going to honor. (Don't look up pictures of him, they're mostly incorrect.) I have never heard of a cat being sacrificed.

They couldn't 'substitute' with these animals any more than a priest could 'substitute' the communion wine with Jack Daniels.

ITT, we post bits of wisdom we learn on RF...to consolidate the wisdom shared on this forum into one "RF Book of Wisdom"...if you will.

I've barely been up for two hours this morning, and I'm already learning...so I'll start...

Ignorance is not really bliss, it's more like some kind of permanent itch that seems like too much trouble to find a solution too, so you just keep on giving it a random scratch with dirty nails every now and then.

Does that include yours? (Including your declared age of 117?)
