Thirty seven years of marriage...

arthra

Baha'i
My wife and I have been together for thirty seven years yesterday.. It's hard to imagine and now with our children grown up and establishing themselves in the world it's been a very worthwhile experience.. My wife is my spiritual consort and has always been there and it's been a wonderful life experience...

"Among the people of Baha, however, marriage must be a union of the body and of the spirit as well, for here both husband and wife are aglow with the same wine, both are enamoured of the same matchless Face, both live and move through the same spirit, both are illumined by the same glory. This connection between them is a spiritual one, hence it is a bond that will abide forever. Likewise do they enjoy strong and lasting ties in the physical world as well, for if the marriage is based both on the spirit and the body, that union is a true one, hence it will endure. If, however, the bond is physical and nothing more, it is sure to be only temporary, and must inexorably end in separation."

~ Abdu'l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 117

Done here.
Congratulations. I don't know what it's like to be with someone for 37 years, but I imagine it could be very nice. I'd like to think that if I live 30 more years I'll find out.

Congratulations, Arthra; and your post did make me think. My first marraige lasted only for seven years and the majority of that time we were miserable together. I was spiritually unconscious in every sense.

That is wonderful. Congratulations--obviously you and your wife not only love each other very much but have been able to work things through together. It really is an amazing thing to hear.

I really hope that one day I can say the same thing :D

That's wonderful to hear.

I'm at a stage of finding someone that I want to spend the rest of my life with. It's a very hard desision, defenetly one of the most important one in my life. Something that will shape my life forever.

It's funny that I see your post now, because yesterday wasn't very good for me. Now I feel like it's all worthwhile.

I have been searching for someone for a long time... and after alot of prayer and meditation and visulasation I have been blessed to have found someone very special who is also 2nd generation bahai. Previous relationships with non bahais havent actually worked out... I think this is the one :) Congratulations artha... I can't wait till I reach a milestone such as yours
