Yes, you read my thread title correctly, because two very recent crimes are a result of what happens when we stop considering the power differences between men and women, and start becoming overly concerned about guys who just got their signals crossed etc.:

California gunman, in manifesto, says police nearly thwarted plot
(Reuters) - A 22-year-old man who killed six people before taking his own life in a rampage through a California college town said in a chilling manifesto that police who knocked on his door last month to check on his welfare nearly foiled his plot.

Elliot Rodger, the son of a Hollywood director, stabbed three people to death in his apartment before gunning down three more victims on Friday night in the town of Isla Vista near the campus of the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB).

Rodger, who posted a threatening video railing about women online shortly before his rampage, stalked Isla Vista in his car and on foot, firing on bystanders in a killing spree that ended when he killed himself after a shootout with sheriff's deputies, police said.

But less than a month before he launched his deadly attacks, after he had planned the killings and obtained the guns he would use, the community college student opened his door to a knock to find about seven police officers looking for him.

"I had the striking and devastating fear that someone had somehow discovered what I was planning to do, and reported me for it," Rodger said in a manifesto obtained by California's KEYT-TV, excerpts of which were published by the Los Angeles Times.

"If that was the case, the police would have searched my room, found all of my guns and weapons, along with my writings about what I plan to do with them. I would have been thrown in jail, denied of the chance to exact revenge on my enemies. I can't imagine a hell darker than that. Thankfully, that wasn't the case, but it was so close," he wrote.

He said officers told him videos he posted online had alarmed his mother, and he believed either she or a mental health agency had asked authorities to check up on him.

So, it all started because he felt that being rejected or turned down by women excused making abusive videos. That was known to police, and of course he had enough cognizance to keep the murder spree plan secret. Obviously he was a narcissist, who felt entitled to these women...where did he get an attitude like that from?

Japanese horror: Two pop idols attacked by saw-wielding man

Two members of a Japanese idol group AKB48, consisting of 140 girls, have been hospitalized after a saw-wielding man suddenly appeared from a crowd of fans and attacked them at a ‘handshake’ event in Iwate Prefecture on Sunday, Japanese media reported.
The members of the pop group, Rina Kawaei 19, and Anna Iriyama 18, were brutally attacked at a fan event in Takizawa, the company behind Japan’s idol group, AKS, said in a statement on its website.

The attacker, a 24 year old man, was waiting in line with hundreds of other fans, but suddenly he took out a 50-cm saw and started swinging it, Mainichi reported. The group’s staff member who was also injured, was protecting the girls and tried to stop the attacker.

It's still early, and so far police say they don't know of the motive for the attack, but I'll put money on it being one more of these delusional expectations of a narcissist feeling entitled to women who turn him on. But, enough of the excuses of 'how she was dressed' or 'she came over to my place.' These extreme cases are what happens when you make excuses for predatory culture that starts with images and themes that guys should do everything and anything they can get away with to score!

Absolutely crazy murderers makes this all about "rape culture"?
Given the low frequency of these mass murderers in their cultures,
that seems just empty sloganeering.

The first guy was a psychopath. He would've used whatever social excuse he could to harm others. The sex stuff was really just an excuse for his malignant behavior.

Sounds to me like the crimes are caused by psychopaths more than anything else

Man, people really are running in all kinds of directions with this shooting to force their pet agendas.

I'm still waiting for people to connect it to video games or whatever music he listened to ()(please be Bieber, please be Bieber)().

People always feel the need to blame something when someone does something terrible. Was it autism, was it video games, was it music, was it his parents, was it bullies, was it TV, was it gun culture? What if he's just an *******? Why do we need something to make them do it?

Why can't we just say he's a complete dick who bought a gun and acted like a complete dick with a gun? Done, explained. He's not emotionally damaged, he's not abused by his parents, he's wasn't influenced by media, it's not because he could get a gun easily, he's not some poor kid who snapped from being tormented by bullies, you know, maybe he's just an *******.

Yes, you read my thread title correctly,

.............which was:-
This Week in Rape Culture:

The California shooting was all about:-
...... severe mental illness and conditions.
...... a question about the cost of mental health services in California.
...... a question about giving better support to the police if/when they might decide to enter property and, say, remove weapons.
....... a question about the issue of handgun licences to foreigners.
....... a question about more strict enquiries and reports before issuing handgun licences to anybody.
....... a question about why there have now been over 150 school/student (related) shootings in only 15 years.

Now didn't you miss some key points about all this, Eh?

What on Earth is this thread doing in 'Men's Issues'?

Who would want to exclude the entire female gender's opinions concerning such matters?

Is this yet another example of sexism?

Because....
That should be enough.
But...
The video features Rodger sitting in his car, detailing his life of “loneliness, rejection, and unfulfilled desires,” specifically blaming women for not welcoming his advances, angry that he was still a virgin. The reasoning behind his intended mass murder is textbook sexist MRA (men’s rights activists) ******** at its most entitled and violent
7 People Killed Near UC Santa Barbara, Including Gunman, Who Acted In “Retribution” For Women Rejecting His Advances [UPDATED]
Which is quite silly.
Most articles and videos I have seen written about MRA or the men and women involved in the movement do not advocate violence towards anyone. Men or women.

I was thinking of parodying the culture of blame by taking offense at your calling him a "dick" (male reference), but I don't think the humor would work. Hmmmm....if we can freely use the word "dick", why cannot we use the exact counterpart "c***"? Our male privilege isn't all it's cracked up to be, eh.

Note: Even "c * * t" didn't get past the software censor program without adding the spaces.
