This Week in Rape Culture:

As you'd stated, he was a malignant narcissist. He was angry at people having sex because he wasn't having it, as "magnificent" and "divine" as he saw himself to be.

So, he wanted to quarantine women away from society (since women are nothing but beasts), take away their rights, have the majority of them starve to death (which he stated he'd enjoy watching), and then keep just a few of them for reproductive purposes by artificial insemination. He said by corralling women and killing most of them off, mankind will be able to evolve by being free from the distractions of sex and love.

Then he said how he'd punish everybody. Because it will be glorious. The world was unfair that obnoxious brutes were having sex with beautiful women, but he being magnificent wasn't getting any beautiful women. And his day of retribution was to punish the world.

Sounds like he was heavily influenced by the MGTOW movement.

You are right. This is a men's issue. Just not in the way you think.
The young man was torment by the girl he loved and he didn't understand it.
Could he have told someone what she was doing to him? One might want to say yes, until they realize the mentality behind the situation.
But it's easy to blame patriachy. Oh so easy.
But we forget feminism is just as to blame.
And so, all the adults that failed this young man, not patriarchy, not feminism, but men and women.
So, you couldn't even see that he is a narcissist, who's tormented because of his ego and his expectation of others...primarily women...to gratify his whims and desires? I don't blame feminism for feeding his ego and his expectations of the women he met during his life. The culture that is to blame is the men who think like him (but refrain from committing crimes) and their female enablers, who agree that ******* and sluts are the problem! Read part 2 of his manifesto:
The Second Phase

will take place on the Day of Retribution itself, just before the climactic massacre.

The Second Phase will represent my War on Women. I will punish all females for the crime of depriving me of sex. They have starved me of sex for my entire youth, and gave that pleasure to other men. In doing so, they took many years of my life away.
I cannot kill every single female on earth, but I can deliver a devastating blow that will shake all of them to the core of their wicked hearts. I will attack the very girls who represent everything I hate in the female gender: The hottest sorority of UCSB.

After doing a lot of extensive research within the last year, I found out that the sorority with the most beautiful girls is Alpha Phi Sorority. I know exactly where their house is, and I’ve sat outside it in my car to stalk them many times. Alpha Phi sorority is full of hot, beautiful blonde girls; the kind of girls I’ve always desired but was never able to have because they all look down on me.

They are all spoiled, heartless, wicked *******. They think they are superior to me, and if I ever tried to ask one on a date, they would reject me cruelly. I will sneak into their house at around 9:00 p.m. on the Day of Retribution, just before all of the partying starts, and slaughter every single one of them with my guns and knives.
If I have time, I will set their whole house on fire. Then we shall see who the superior one really is!

I'm not sure what exactly he was influenced by, but he certainly felt women owed him something, and men were taking it away from him. What is rare is his solution to what he sees as the problem, obviously.

Here's what I've noticed....the hashtag campaign #yesallwomen that has been circulating around social media, where women have been speaking up in solidarity about how they have been harassed, stalked, raped, assaulted, and how they have been told to shut up about their experiences. It's in response to the hashtag campaign #notallmen.

As if that was the first thing that women everywhere were thinking. It wasn't. Women know that not all men do this. But what is typically ignored is the number of women who experience being targeted by violence. Or it's misread as a complaint against men in general. It isn't.

So, women have been speaking up.

It appears to be two sides who do nothing but talk past each other.

I don't see narcissist. I see someone who fell. Someone everyone failed. Someone who was confused about his emotions and found the wrongs answers because no one was there giving him the right answers.

This is why I'm so sorry to see you return here! Your obsession with understanding
& assessing a situation, & your failure to make it about the labels is trouble making.
I wish you would....oh, dang....I'm just jealous of you.

Malignant narcissism is a psychological syndrome comprised as an extreme mix of narcissism, antisocial personality disorder, and aggression and sadism.[1] Often grandiose, and always ready to raise hostility levels, the malignant narcissist undermines organisations they are involved in, as well dehumanising the people they associate with.[2]

The guy was a psychopath, really. But his narcissism was truly striking.

I mean just look at his videos. It's obvious.

It's extremely hard to help psychopaths because they are master liars and manipulators. They tend to fool even mental health experts because they play them like a fiddle.

And this is why everyone around him failed him.
And this why it will happen again.
We, as a society, are too busy not seeing when our kids need help until it's too late.

Really, I thought the claims of being a god fell along the lines of narcissism, as opposed to confusion.

The Wash Po weighs in on what caused the perp to murder...

Apatow, Rogen Slam WaPost Film Critic For Blaming Calif. Mass Shooting On White Male Hollywood Culture « CBS DC
As Rodger bemoaned his life of “loneliness, rejection and unfulfilled desire” and arrogantly announced that he would now prove his own status as “the true alpha male,” he unwittingly expressed the toxic double helix of insecurity and entitlement that comprises Hollywood’s DNA. For generations, mass entertainment has been overwhelmingly controlled by white men, whose escapist fantasies so often revolve around vigilantism and sexual wish-fulfillment (often, if not always, featuring a steady through-line of casual misogyny). Rodger’s rampage may be a function of his own profound distress, but it also shows how a sexist movie monoculture can be toxic for women and men alike.
Movies made by white men are to blame according to a former assistant to Gloria Steinem?
Hmmmm....
We see feminists here lamenting the feeling that they're under attack. Well, some aspects of the
feminist culture (like this movie reviewers commentary) really are. But hey, we mens are busy
deflecting overly-general accusations (& cat toys) too.

Even if someone would try to give him help, he probably would deny it and act like nothing's wrong. Psychopaths aren't the type to show up at therapist's offices and say "I need help".

That's the media for you. It's like how after Columbine, they blamed metal, industrial, goth culture, video games and movies. The media is amazingly stupid.

Speaking of overly general accusations, looks like CNN is jumping on the bandwagon now:
Opinion: Shooter's rage at women too familiar in America - CNN.com
I was struck by his numerous references to being a "man," his feelings of rejection by women, his frustrated desire to have sex with them. He was a man feeling absolutely powerless, enraged at being denied the gender privilege that men enjoy in a male-dominated world.
Blend that warped sense of male grievance with mental illness, America's abundance of guns, and the epidemic of violence against women and girls on our planet, and you get prime conditions for bloody scenes like that in sunny California.
So now the killings are the fault of men, guns, and 3rd world countries.
