Or put them on ignore. That's what I usually do - then I can go on with my life like they don't exist. People who are here to "put down" or "ridicule" people's beliefs usually don't last long. They can only refrain themselves so long before they self destruct and get kicked off the boards. This is a hard forum for many people to deal with because it promotes tolerance and acceptance - something that goes against the personalities of some.StewpidLoser said:Sometimes it's hard, but I'm learning ... Hehe, are we insecure, I'm not overly fond of the EU myself...........telling us how straight our bannana's should be !!!, damm brussels officals.Darkdale said:As defensive as the europeans are insecure perhaps?
You're not on mine...should I put you there?mr.guy said:hmmm....why do i get the feeling i'm on alot of "ignore" togs...
Please my fellow thinker, express those views, if you believe in them, say them out loud and clear.Seyorni said:I'd like to state frankly my views on the military and war, but both enjoy such popular support I fear I'd be torn to shreads!
Hey!! I tried, I just wasn't very good at itKatzpur said:I know, but I'm more interested in debate, frankly. But look at how hard I tried to get somebody to discuss the nature of God with me. I begged! I groveled! Now very few people on this forum share my beliefs about God, but to save my life, I couldn't get any of them to jump in and try to support their beliefs. It's like, "Oh well, that's the LDS perspective. I can't be bothered."

That is very sad Feathers; the forum is, after all to discuss anything religious and most anything non-religious. Can you say what and why ? (PM will do if you don't want it displayed ).FeathersinHair said:I hold back all the time.
That's a shame Kathryn, maybe sometimes I don't reply because I am afraid that my views will offend others - for example, I know little about LDS, and I would hate to upset you. My fault I guess, I ought to bone up on the basics of LDS.Katzpur said:I know, but I'm more interested in debate, frankly. It's like, "Oh well, that's the LDS perspective. I can't be bothered." It's like if someone were to come on this forum and say, "I believe there is intelligent life on Pluto." I'd just think, "Yeah, whatever..." and not even bother to respond.
And later:-
Well, those are the kinds of topics I would personally like to see more of. I'm a whole lot more interested in debating subjects with some substance than subjects like how to get the cute girl in 5th period to notice you. I don't want to specifically point out any of the many, many threads I see as pointless and trivial, because if there are people here (and there obviously are) who are into that kind of stuff, these threads obviously serve a purpose. But I'd love to talk about something meatier! I'd love contributing where I could, and I'd love researching where necessary. I like threads that make me think and question my beliefs. (Sometime telling me that my beliefs are stupid, incidentally, doesn't qualify as thought-provoking.) If I simply had nothing to say, I could at least learn something new. So start a topic already! (Just not on the political forum. I do find politics boring.)
Well, unless your being sexually overtly explicit, I'm not sure why you think you can't discuss; the rest, why not ?Constantine said:anything that has to do with sex, drugs or how people honestly think of others, and their beliefs.... but I fear I've said too much....
I don't know that even you believe that - there's wrong in every country; I must admit that I sometimes see an English guy posting something about America, and I feel 'Ooh, you shouldn't say that, they are our hosts, after all.. ) Personally, I see nothing in America that is worse than in any other country.Fatmop said:Ain't nothing wrong with America.
Oh, yes, know that feeling.........Sunstone said:There are some topics that require a great deal of specialized knowledge to be discussed intelligently. I often forego starting threads on those subjects because I feel that few people would be interested in them, or have the background to discuss them.
I associate with that one too! ; but heck, surely we can say how we feel ?Seyorni said:I'd like to state frankly my views on the military and war, but both enjoy such popular support I fear I'd be torn to shreads!

Well, it seems that one cannot proselytize relgion but everthing else is just hunky dorry. A lot of people will put you down if you disagree with them on their pet belief while accusing us religious "nuts" of doing that to them. Maybe we should rename this forum to come on in and pound on the religious people, it might double that membership
My fault. I need to be clearer on my sarcasm.I don't know that even you believe that - there's wrong in every country; I must admit that I sometimes see an English guy posting something about America, and I feel 'Ooh, you shouldn't say that, they are our hosts, after all.. ) Personally, I see nothing in America that is worse than in any other country.
Well said Michel, after all this is a debate forum and if someone brings up the opposition on a subject, those who disagree should refrain from getting their noses bent out of shape. They should follow your example better Michelmichel said:Surely this is normal ? I am perfectly aware that some of the atheists find it hard to understand some of the religious views; but surely that is debatable - as long as everyone is Polite about saying "I believe your beliefs are that of a nut" Maybe we should all grow thicker skins ? - or not be so sensitive.
